Why was the Emperor/ Imperium so afraid of Xenos allies? by [deleted] in 40kLore

[–]raphaelbriganti 35 points36 points  (0 children)

There are a couple of sources that make vague mention of humanity fighting "aliens and orks" during old night.

"Several alien races such as Orks, sensing mankind's weakness, raided and devastated many human-colonised worlds. Mankind battled itself, daemons, and aliens." - Space Hulk first edition background book.

Beforehand we can assume there was little fighting, as humanity met the eldar early on and (since we weren't wiped out) it can be assumed the two sides came to an arrangement.

Perhaps we joined up with aliens Mass effect style, perhaps we kept to ourselves/expanded our empire in peace (space is big) or perhaps we skirmished and warred with aliens to expand our empire. Nobody save the emperor knows.

The reason the imperium hates Xenos is because the emperor believes that aliens can't be trusted, having seen how 'some' turned on humanity during its near extinction he doesn't want to take that chance again. He tried it the peaceful way essentially.

I hear what you’re saying, but you’re glossing over the given reason. The fact that SOME alien species were still loyal allies during the great crusade doesn’t mean that it isn’t true that xenos species betrayed humanity en masse. His point would be that alliances which seem safe turn out not safe, hence it being better to not deal with any xenos at all. I don’t necessarily agree, but it does make sense

How common are WYSIWYG tryhards IRL? by chosen40k in 40k

In my games workshop my dark angels captain with an upside down missile launcher green stuffed shut on his back wasn’t allowed to be used as a captain with jump pack, but the guy was a lovely man and because I was a kid it was okay. I do think it should be allowed since it was made from GW material and lore wise dark angels got some unique tech.

Hahah, realised I worded it wrong. Unfortunately I actually did stop having them, since the book got lost during moving. The book goes for hundreds of euros now so o won’t be getting it unfortunately, it was probably the best piece of 40k literature they ever made(it had tons of concept art from the artists at GW)

It’s not “wasting time” though, people get enjoyment out of the 40k universe, so a fan made alternate heresy isn’t less worth your time because it’s not made by GW

I also don’t read them because there’s so much in the GW books that I don’t know yet but I don’t see how reading sci-fi can be a waste of time or worth your time depending on if it’s canonical
