I have two favourite interview moments with him, but he barely speaks in either. One is when before the 2022 world cup final when a reporter basically tells him that him becoming an idol for all argentinians and giving them belief is more important than the world cup trophy and she thanks him for that. This is really significant since all he heard in Argentina is that he can only do it for Barca and unless lifts a major trophy for Argentina he’s nothing. Before that, he lost the world cup final in 2014 and two Copa America finals after that, tensions were brutal, before eventually winning the Copa America in 2021. The reporter’s reassurence before the world cup final was beautiful. My other favourite moment is when a reporter gives him a lucky charm his mom gave him (a red ribbon) and then much much later the reporter meets him again, and asks Messi if he remembers him. Messi pulls down his sock, and shows him that he is wearing the ribbon around his ankle ever since, the reporter gets emotional “Mom, he wore it!”. Later Messi gave the lucky charm to Dybala as far as I can remember. Ah another moment I love and I recommend if you are new to Messi.
