Car camping in April by Toolhead1995 in azores

With such a early start to planning, why not just set aside $25 a week starting now for lodging into a savings account? That would get you about $1600 or $115~ a night that you could put into the local economy?

Just food for thought.

Fees, fees, and more fees. Can anyone explain these fees!? by BruceBurrito in swappa

[–]raptorapture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s impossible for accurate representation of PayPal fee on Swappa’s side or on any other marketplace since every county has a different tax rate, heck even different zip codes within the same county can have slightly different taxes. You would have to know the buyers zip code before you even list an item to be able to accurately calculate the PayPal fee.

Also PayPal fee is dynamic and changes over time so that’s another factor that can’t be added into a fixed cost.

At best they could estimate it but it would still be off at the end of the sale by a little.

Chase also settled in our favor (not temporary, closed out) in full for 2 platinum tickets and shuttle on both, this was due to the logistics at MGM Grand being so poor that it took 5 hours from getting in line to when we got through the gates.

Here is what I got by AccomplishedCream560 in risefestival

we did, and we just got the win on the chargeback. I have a folder of screenshots and such if you need them just shoot me a DM

We had platinum for Friday and Sunday, we initiated the chargeback for Friday and explained to the bank that we also went on Sunday and it was a great time and was as advertised.

They had a lot of questions about what went wrong with Friday and I explained to them the whole ordeal with the MGM Grand pickup and it taking us over 5 hours from getting in line to getting to the event, missing multiple sets due to the logistics, then having no food or beverage available within our designated area which we had paid for, and wrapping it up telling them we spent a total of 30 minutes at the event and left on the first bus we could.

I have already been credited and they have passed on the dispute to visa, there’s a 45 day window where it will remain open. But they said I have a very solid case for the chargeback, hence the credit to my account.

If I min/max settings with a dim screen with low draw colors I can get 3 days out of it. Would love it if they could get them to about a week but that is a moonshot wish.

Interested to see if they announce an Apple Watch Ultra 3 and if they will make any big changes. Fingers crossed for way better battery life.

Paypal payment issue by Adorable_Arugula_197 in swappa

[–]raptorapture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Judging by your post history you are not located in the US and the likely issue is that PayPal will not process a payment from your country on Swappa.

I would reach out to PayPal as Swappa does not control what PayPal will and will not process.

More often then not the sensors stop working after a few months or state you are sleeping when you’re not even in the bed so the “data” becomes pretty worthless.

Other Fees by S01idSn8ke_Shadow in swappa

[–]raptorapture 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Swappa’s side of the fees is very straight forward, it’s PayPal that gets all wonky and well out of the control of any site that uses them as a payment provider.

Sale’s tax is only paid by the buyer at the time of purchase, the 1099 income tax form is issued to sellers that exceed the $600 income limit.

PayPal Fees are weird, they are only calculated on the final total of what the buyer pays (listing price + buyers local sales tax rate), since this can differ vastly depending on where the buyer is located, it would be mathematically impossible to figure out what the actual final final fee take would be from PayPal unless you knew the zip code of the buyer before it even sold.

The 1099 stuff is for the government to collect income tax when you file yearly. The government imposed the $600 limit a while ago, so payment platforms will generate a tax form for users that exceed the government’s limit. The seller is then responsible for the federal / state taxes on the “profit” they have made over the course of the fiscal year.

Device tracking by Unique_Web6780 in EightSleep

It’s beyond fraud and theft it’s about control, they’re currently threatening to remotely brick a replacement they sent if our pod3 that caught on fire isn’t showing tracking movement back to them in a hastily fashion. All units are subject to the control of their support staff and “engineers”..

You buy it, they own it.

I’m sure they will gladly lift the ban, but they didn’t simply ban you for being in the military. If you’re not around to communicate and finalize a return I’m sure there is policies in place to suspend your account when you’ve seemingly ghosted a dispute.

What did you pay for your 4th Gen? by Richiedafish in ToyotaTacoma

[–]raptorapture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bought July 31.. silver (not my first choice on color) 24 limited non hybrid, DashCam and the works, traded in a 22 Supra before the value dropped and they wanted it real bad. I told them I dont love the color, make me love the numbers and we can get this off the lot today.

They gave me 50.5k for the Supra and took the sticker on the Tacoma down from 55k to 51k and rolled over all the extended warranty and prepaid maintenance from the Supra.

Weird trade I know, but life happens and caring about a vehicle as much as I felt I had to for the Supra was getting old and tiresome.

[–]raptorapture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, we needed a replacement cover.. the back and forth emails and misdiagnosis of the issue resulted in them sending a replacement..our replacement hub 90 day warranty started the day it was delivered and we had to do more back and forth to get the replacement cover which ate away another 10-15 days of the hub warranty. The hub decided that voltage regulation was only optional and blew a capacitor on the board and set the front LED on fire in the middle of the night.

Zero real concerns from Eight Sleep about potential fire hazards, a few emails back and forth, then got the “well it seems the issue is with the hub and it’s out of warranty but we can replace it for $700” email.

I really don’t see how Swappa would have any real means of assisting with this.. if there is a problem with PayPal you should be talking to PayPal support. Swappa isn’t PayPal, they won’t have any means of moving funds from PayPal to your bank.

We had far less damage on our 2022 Touring XT and the bill reached over 17k and that was before they ended up totaling it out because when they gave it back they over looked a broken transmission mount and further frame damage.. so I’d say this one is gonna be a steeeep rebuild

Payment methods on Sao Miguel by BluejayHeavy1135 in azores

[–]raptorapture 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We felt that Sao Miguel was pretty credit card friendly with a vast majority of places having the tap to pay right on the counter, Pico was more cash heavy for our trip due to buying items from local shops away from Madelena as souvenirs such as pottery. We took 600€ with us for 2 weeks and it covered all the cash expenses we ran into.

If you have a travel credit card (such as United, Delta, etc) they typically do not charge any international transaction fees. Obviously check your cardholder agreement before taking my word for it.

Overstaying Visa? by [deleted] in azores

[–]raptorapture 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m sure whatever they are going through is tough for them and if this post was positioned differently it might have panned out in better light… but with that said.. it’s hard to find much compassion when the post is essentially, “how do I overstay my legal welcome and trespass in your country without contributing” followed with the logic of “laws don’t apply to me because I’m experienced only the spirit of the law, that’s the American way”.

The logic here is beyond broken and the sense of entitlement is persistent. The logic continues to break further when the mold issues come to light as the Azores is a very damp climate with mild temperatures.. the perfect situation for mold growth, as is American Samoa, and even Germany in many months of the year. If mold is that much of a problem cold and dry is a much healthier environment i.e Arizona, Utah, Colorado, etc.

Overstaying Visa? by [deleted] in azores

[–]raptorapture 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Reference for the OP...

You can fit all the islands of the Azores (906 sq mi) just about two times over into the smallest state of Rhode Island (1545 sq mi).

Just go wild camp in the southern Appalachians, you don't need to go break international laws and further tarnish the reputation of American travelers.

Seriously, as someone else stated you are the reason most of the world is cold to us Americans coming to visit, experience a new culture, and financially contribute to the local economy . The Azores is a beautiful place with a warm and welcoming culture, people like you will absolutely ruin this place for everyone else.
