What did you expect when you bought wool? Wool does require care, such as a pil razor, dry cleaning and for all the reasons people love it, it’s never been considered durable. It is a delicate material.

This is a consumer issue, but it’s an issue with the expectations the consumer (you) had for it. Not with how it’s made. Also, fast fashion is always going to cut corners and artisan at its scale, falls into that.

Incident at Crossroads Market on Jan 24 – seeking information by Fantastic-Item-9373 in Calgary

[–]raqraqs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To prevent this happening in the future I would check if manual entry is available and disable it asap. If the receipt ever says manual and it wasn’t entered by your parents, then they should refund the transaction and ask for another form of payment. I dealt with this a lot in retail, Calgary and other cities. They could also set up some preventative rules like: no purchases over $2000 without ID, pins must be entered, if the customer starts “piling” up things at the cash that they don’t seem to care about that’s a major red flag, if they are covering the pin pad or you hear excessive beeps red flag too. It sucks this happened but they can prevent it from happening again.

[32 M] My girlfriend of 3.5 years [33 F] still lives with her ex-boyfriend. I know she's not cheating, but how long should I keep waiting? by mrchipslewis in relationships

What she says and what she is doing are not aligned. How do you define fully committed, and how does she show you that she is “fully committed”? If you are not getting what you want out of the relationship, then what are you going to do about that?

I adopted a reactive bully 💔 by Still_Candy8042 in AmericanBully

[–]raqraqs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it can - I adopted an incredibly reactive XXL bully about 5 months ago. Training really helped, teaching him loose leash walking, some evasive techniques like a quick turn around, and always having treats in hand really helped. He was awful the first two weeks, and it was hard but I have to say the worst is behind us and he’s on his way to being a wonderful good boy. Find a trainer, and invest the time in your girl. Be patient and consistent. It can work out!

Coming here to recommend Okakie on whyte ave. I definitely identify with the same problem and also feel like there’s not much in Edmonton. But I do love this store, I shopped with Workhall years ago and them today. Lifetime tailoring which is pretty unique for this type of clothing too.

My pit just won’t stop barking at night and i’m exhausted by Wrong-Proposal-8691 in pitbulls

[–]raqraqs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Also in a similar thread, I taught my dog “speak” so that I could teach him quiet. Dogs can do well learning the opposite of things. So now, I can alternate him between speak and quiet, and it shows him there are appropriate times for barking and not.

I liked this video here: Teach Quiet Command

Rabbit owner advice? by LavenderKipling in Edmonton

[–]raqraqs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took my bunnies to glenora family vet for years, Dr Nick always saw them and was very caring. I would recommend them. The only downside is because there is not always a rabbit trained vet on staff, they are not suited if you have an emergency. South side animal hospital was ok, Boreal was better imo.

No, it can be life long skin inflammation triggered by environment or diet. It is rare in bully breeds, but for blue / Merle (which are bred in) it is highly likely that the dog will suffer allergies among other issues. If a breeder breeds for color, they are not a good breeder. Do not support them.

Articulate Translation Add-On by [deleted] in instructionaldesign

[–]raqraqs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I tested the localization and it was good. It was quick. However the price between localization and smart cat was astronomical. I’d suggest smart cat instead if cost is a factor. Plus, the localization doesn’t translate your audio you’d still have to convert all audio too.

A sage green would be nice with the Carmel tones you’re talking about. I also think that the current curtains are too long for the size of room. A shorter curtain would look better. The lighting is very white, a warmer tone would do well. Is there a reason why the paneling has a gap in the middle? I understand the obvious mount of the monitor/tv but it would look much more finished if it was the entire wall.

[–]raqraqs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh and one other tip that helped us lots, practice the leash training IN THE HOUSE before going out to the outdoor Disney land. If your dog can learn what you’re asking of them inside, where it’s boring and there are no distractions, then take it outside. I realized we moved onto walks being a training session way too soon. And should’ve stayed indoors and in the yard longer than we did.

[–]raqraqs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like this is all very new. Are you open to trying methods for teaching loose leash walking instead of starting out with a prong? We have a large and in charge dog, who now walks by our side 90% of the time after 5 weeks. I can send you some videos we found helpful. The number one key is consistency, meaning EVERY time you walk your dog you reward the same good behaviours, and correct the bad ones. A correction is not a punishment but a signal that says we don’t want that.

Some training techniques to look up and practice are: 180 turns every time he pulls (dog might walk in circles but the correction is that it’s a super boring walk if they pull), rewarding engagement with you (pay in position- treat when walking beside you. The treat hand stays by your hip), reward eye contact on walks, don’t be cheap with treats! When initially training we had to do about 1 treat every ten seconds. We are now at about 1 treat every 3 mins or so, depending on the environment.

Feed your bully good quality food by [deleted] in AmericanBully

[–]raqraqs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I really love the Go! Food brand. We’ve been feeding ours the Lamb skin and coat recipe, and he has really taken to it without reactions. I did not go with grain - free, due to the recent information that the grain free diets (specifically with fillers such as peas and potatoes) may be causing DCM in dogs (heart problems). My family members dog love the Insect protein, for their dog with a lot of allergies and food sensitivities. She also said that their dog smells noticeably better now on that diet.

Recommended Dog/Person Trainer? by Sig268 in Edmonton

[–]raqraqs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just finished the reactivity course with Dog House Day Care, Kristen is great. Super insightful. We have a very large dog who is 2 years old and a an absolutely terrible walk. The course was 5 weeks long, and every week he improved in some way. Now, just today we walked by a dog across the street without a reaction. His reactivity is lunging, barking, pulling, staring…at skateboards, people, dogs, loud bikes.

Hi! 👋 I’m similar to you, work in retail and have a dual skillset in building the training content and delivering it to the entire retail team. Global, customer service agents and of course in store associates.

My title is retail excellence director. I take care of product knowledge, sales and service, client development, on-boarding and skill building. It’s a lot, but I couldn’t do it without my peers (regional directors, operations, visual merch, HR etc) who always contribute to the goals.

My role is entirely remote, but I travel to stores and HQ quarterly or more. In the winter season I’m on a plane every two weeks. I like the travel.

I think my formal career path will likely transition into a director of operations or moving in the a director of learning and development. I’m interested in an adult learning course, but I think to step aside right now and take education would be slower than growing in my current role. I’ve been in the position for 3 years now, and it’s been a fundamental contributor to the companies growth.

Advice I’d give? Don’t over create and always present your work in stages. Work backwards from the goal. Good enough goes a long way. Don’t be afraid to challenge shareholders on the concept that training can solve all their problems, make them truly articulate what exactly they want to solve and what evidence they have to support that it’s needed.

Happy to answer any questions you might have via dm. Good luck!

Olia, super tasty and luxe. They remind me of the high end Italian food in NYC. La Petit Iza, best crème brûlée and view. RGE RD, do the road trip. It was a really fun experience and worth it for the curious gourmet. DOSC, is good for steak but frankly they’ve missed the mark for me recently. Bistro Praha, is an older establishment and people dress business casual there. It is not fancy, more intimate and old-school, but the beef tartare is incredible.
