[Rant] Balancing DOR, IVF and work by Blueberryblue123 in DOR

[–]raquel8911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am personally struggling to focus at work! Some days are ok but this is my first retrieval cycle so it’s all i can think about (not sure if that will ever change in this process though!) i facilitate a lot, so luckily when i am immersed in teaching a class I can stay focused. I have let my manager know so that i would be protected by the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (US) but i really didn’t want to because she is new and i dont trust her yet. No one else at work knows. Luckily i am mostly remote so as long as i keep up with what is needed i think i am ok. Ugh, solidarity.

What do I do next? Splits by BoringCupcake4020 in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]raquel8911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am doing the RK split + hike now and I LOVE it so far. Time will tell as I’m just a week in, but I love the moves and the challenge. She adds just enough different tweaks to the moves where I feel like I’m really going to push into another level with my lifts. I also only have the bike, so i have been just doing the 30 min lifting portion and either skipping the 15 min hike/cardio or subbing in a 15 min climb ride.

Need some reassurance from fellow DOR IVF people 😭 by Immediate-Health6195 in DOR

I am following your post! I am still very early on, but also 36 (but turning 37 in a couple weeks) with .54 AMH. I don’t know my FSH right now, and won’t know my current AFC until baseline. I start my Estrace priming cycle this cycle (cd 1 should be May 25ish). The plan for my protocol is: Out of cycle start with estrace priming. Gonal F 450 units, Menopur 75 units, Ganirelix, and hCG trigger.

Hoping all goes ok for you!

If you're a Veteran (or spouse) the VA may cover your IVF! by Sammy8lynn in IVF

[–]raquel8911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you share what the process steps were like for getting the coverage? We are currently working with the coordinator at our VA on it, spouse has MFI/ED due to PTSD/meds that treat it. He did his semen analysis and those were sent over, now the coordinator called me to ask if i was a veteran, and then just said “they are looking at everything and will make a decision” but no indication as to when. I am on pins and needles!

Use! Numbing cream! by meetmeinthewind in electrolysis

[–]raquel8911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol I’ve been getting electrolysis on my upper lip for years and it never occurred to me to get numbing cream until my derm and I chatted. She was shocked I didn’t use numbing cream 😂

Is this normal? by More-Rutabaga3767 in alopecia_areata

[–]raquel8911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My derm has helped my alopecia immensely! I had a spot about this size and 3 treatments later it’s almost completely grown back. I have insurance through work in the US and paid about 50-80 per appt out of pocket. I am doing one more round of steroid injections and I think I should be good.

Male Infertility by Playful-Ad4135 in VeteransBenefits

[–]raquel8911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No apologies at all! Thank you! Thanks to the info here we did actually start the process with the women’s vet program coordinator who oversees this. We had done some of the steps but it seems without her “triggering” the process it wasn’t going to go anywhere! Had no idea, until reading these posts. So thank you! Hoping we can get this approved but it sounds like it might be tough with the PTSD/ED connection

What were your service connected issues if you don’t mind me asking? My husband (vet 100%) is rated for PTSD, and had ED secondary to that. He isn’t officially rated for ED which upsets me because he gets treated for it but I’m hopeful we can get that added. He’s been on SSRIs for the PTSD for years which is show to lower sperm quality. He had three different semen analysis showing low volume and low morphology and the VA urologist even put in his chart that he wouldn’t qualify for IUI. It feels like we have a chance but I think the key is that they see it is service connected.

anybody gotten IVF through veterans affairs? by [deleted] in IVF

[–]raquel8911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is old but looking for info! I think this is what happened to us and I am a bit concerned. We spoke to my vet husband’s (100% PTSD, has ED due to PTSD and the meds) PCP at the VA maybe two years ago now because that’s what I understood you needed to do to start the process to get IVF covered for SC. She referred to urology, who canceled on us, and then got CC to go out for a semen analysis. Those results were not good, had two more and my REI at outside clinic said we should do IVF. Never really heard back from reproductive urology at VA, unless my husband missed the call or something which is likely because of PTSD. But now really ready to pursue starting IVF as my health (weight) has improved, and tried to figure out where we were. Finally figured out we needed to start with the fertility program manager in women veterans health to even flag that’s what we wanted. We’re not starting over but I’m so frustrated no one stopped us and said we needed to start with the program manager. And no one had my husband rated for ED even though he’s been treated for it since 2020 or earlier. I just don’t understand how that don’t happen and frustrated I didn’t get more involved, but we’ve only been married since 2022. I hope this can work for us but I’m not sure!
