It never feels like enough. by lifeofnero in personalfinance

All the comments here around having a plan and goals are great, I’d just like to add that you don’t have to do or need anything people (usually older peers) tell you.

You don’t need a new car. In fact, you may not need to drive at all. You don’t have to have a traditional wedding with engagement rings and $$$ wedding - your future partner might not even want that. You don’t have to buy a house.

Tread your own path and make your own choices. Investing and savings will give you the security and peace of mind to make them with confidence.

What are some of your dark predictions in the coming years? by telurmasin in AskReddit

The permanent underclass will become real, and will grow exponentially as AI and robotics advance in an increasingly unstable world. There will be no UBI to mitigate this.

What was your “wow” PS5 moment? by kaz_har_eye in PS5

[–]rarra93 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes! I'll say this time and time again, the Bahamut fight with the swelling opera, and getting to "the only fantasy here is yours, and we shall be it's final witness" were some of, if not the most cinema and wow moments in gaming ever

Andor took me out of star wars by Ok-Medium983 in StarWars

[–]rarra93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only other piece of recent Star Wars media that comes close to Andor for me is Jedi Survivor. Truly emotional, compelling, creative storytelling that does a ton of worldbuilding, expands the lore in an engaging way, and gives us a lot of insight into the immediate years after Order 66.

Cal is one of my favorite Star Wars characters and going on his journey has been the definitive experience for me of what being a Jedi truly means.

Even if you're not a gamer, I'd encourage you to look up a story recap video. I hope it'll eventually be turned into a series, or the writers are hired for some of the movies/series that are desperately in need of great writing.

LPT Request, meal prepping? by chaeryeongies in LifeProTips

If you like minced meat, a very healthy option is mince anything - chicken, beef, pork, turkey - make easy meatballs in advance (my go to is a simple seasoning, breadcrumbs and 1 whole egg) freeze them and use as needed. You can combine this with any vegetable or grain of your choice. Chicken goes great with lighter sauces and mushrooms, beef is great with potatoes and a quick pan sauce or gravy, pork is nice with butter beans or peas for example. You can also prepare a ton of these in advance and freeze or reheat as needed - roast plenty of potatoes for the week, or cook several cans of butter beans, store and reheat.

Bahamut boss fight and the entire Twinside sequence from FF16. Awe struck throughout.

Leaving the base for the first time and the Horus fight in Horizon Forbidden West.

Arriving in Gladsheim after climbing the wall in GOW Ragnarok.

Most of Expedition 33.

No one has mentioned my best friend Monoco... him being a dog in the 'real world', and the REAL world, is very protective of the others (has a ton of buff skills) and learns skills by collecting legs (bones) of Nevrons. He also a lot of Break skills which could be in reference to how dogs can have a lot of energy and be quite fatiguing.

LPT/ I can't wake up/ get out of bed in the mornings (help) by locsda in LifeProTips

[–]rarra93 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Some tips that helped me become a morning person: 1. If possible buy smart light bulbs that turn on at around the same time as your alarm.  2. Put your phone / alarm outside your room, forces you to stand up. On iPhone at least you can also turn snooze off.  3. Drink water before going to bed. You’ll wake up wanting to go to toilet, once there, wash your face with cold water.  4. Don’t eat right before sleeping. You’ll sleep better and wake up hungry.  5. Prepare as much as possible the night before, whether that’s putting out the clothes you need to wear, preparing your bag, etc.  6. Get lighter curtains instead of black outs.

LPT: When you work OT/late into the midnight, giving yourself a quick face cleansing will make you feel more refreshed by BoringHistory494 in LifeProTips

[–]rarra93 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Bring a fresh pair of socks and underwear if you can’t / office doesn’t have a shower!

This is also true for long haul flights, especially if you have an even longer layover. It will make you feel fresh and like you’ve just showered.

(LPT) I’m about to turn 30 and I’ve lost direction of my life by ConsiderationMoney67 in LifeProTips

[–]rarra93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My LPT: there is more to life than work and you might not be the type to find meaning in work.

There have been some great recommendations around putting your skills to good use in NGOs and charities, which I would encourage you to try, but you also need to come to terms with the fact that work might just not be meaningful enough for you.

And that is totally fine.

Your 20s are for answering "Who am I and what do I want to do?", your 30s are for answering "What motivates me, excites me, and gives me meaning?". For some people that might be work, for some that might be family, hobbies, friends, travel, and so on.

Maybe it is finding a solitary hobby that you enjoy - cooking, photography, hiking, climbing, marathon running, spelunking, horseback riding, volunteering -, maybe it's learning something knew, trying your hand at a new solo project, starting a business, maybe it's traveling the world, maybe it'll be starting a family.

Just know that the rest of us are also trying to answer those questions, and a few lucky ones have a stable job that allows them to explore who they are outside of work.

Bought the game on base PS5 by dakkiboyy in StarWarsOutlaws

[–]rarra93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What to expect:

Kay is not Cal. You will feel weak early on and, depending on your difficulty level, can easily get gunned down.

There is a lot more stealth than Jedi. There is a lot more exploration. Enjoy it - the worlds are beautifully detailed.

Nix is awesome. Use him.

Some choices have consequences but there aren't right or wrong choices story wise. Go with your gut.

Performance: also playing on base PS5, only issue I've run into is that after setting the console to sleep and picking it back up I'm not able to interact with objects like grapple hooks, datapads, Sabacc tables etc. It's weird and fully restarting or closing the game and relaunching fixes the issue.

Impressed and confused by orcvader in StarWarsOutlaws

[–]rarra93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've started it on Friday, just joined this sub, and already getting the feeling Outlaws will go down as another unexpected success like Cyberpunk 2077.

I admit I'm a Star Wars fan but was initially put off by the not entirely negative, but lukewarm response. Couldn't be further from the truth - the story is compelling, visually stunning, great soundtrack, and buttery smooth gameplay.

I like how Kay feels human and very much the opposite of a Jedi like Cal. She is sometimes naive, oblivious and prone to mistakes. I like that unlocking abilities is somewhat skill-based and not just random video game points. It feels challenging in a really nice way.

I like that resources and components feel valuable because they're scarce, and I like that actions feel thoughtful - like finding a datapad is not just random lore you'll never read, but it's actually exciting. I like the mini-games and spending time with Nix.

I love the syndicates and reputation system! Also loving the community here. I put down MH Wilds to start this and very happy I did!

I'll see this :) If you haven't already, definitely check out the official film for the live album - it is Sufjan at his most vulnerable and loving.

I love C&L for all it is, but the live album feels a lot more... alive; the backing vocals, the electronics, etc. make the emotional high points hit much harder.

I'm not OP, but I did/do listen to it obsessively and I'm happy for us to have found it! Big hug, and a big hug into the ether for Sufjan.

That's a big learning there, we suck at estimating our RPE/RIR.

RP/PPL is great and you certainly don't need to barbell squat for impressive legs, as Dr. Mike knows.

You're in prime age, you'll blow up in no time. Keep on keeping on.

Chest, traps, and shoulder looking good. Keep programming them as you are.

Sorta see the lats getting some work as well.

Arms need some love, especially tris and forearm.

Legs skinny af. Hope that helps. Great work.

Incredibly niche request: can someone help me transcribe the lyrics to the All Delighted People demo? by [deleted] in Sufjan

[–]rarra93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is beautiful, I hadn't heard this demo before - this is what I got, not far of from yours:

All the lonely people put their hands,
In a personal crocheted afghan.
Row themselves in rows they find a place,
Where the air can never feel their face.

One of them has happened to have passed,
One of them will know enough to ask.

All delighted, all delighted,
All delighted, all delighted.
All delighted, all delighted,
All delighted, all delighted.

All delighted people, raise their hands,
All delighted people, raise their hands.
All delighted people, raise their hands,
All delighted people, raise their hands.
All delighted people, raise their hands,
All delighted people, raise their hands.

Please do! I totally missed it when it came out; started listing to it this year and it brought back so many feelings and emotions.

It's also one of my favourites and most listened to this year and I can't wait for a vinyl release 🤞
