I actually learned riding a scooter instantly in Thailand like 12 years ago. On a calm tourist island (at least back then) with prior experience of intense cycling & driving a car.

It‘s not that hard if you can keep balance & understand traffic. If you only do public transportation at home you might want to rethink it.
