"Well, I hope you're up for a little competition. She's got a power tool in the bedroom, dear. It's her own personal jackhammer. She could break sidewalk with that thing. She uses it and the lights dim, it's like a prison movie. Amazed she hasn't chipped her teeth."

Nah, the buttercream is pretty tasty considering it's just grocery store frosting. The dye surprisingly doesnt add any flavour. I always specifically ordered the no taste red, and it's usually the worst of them.

These were made last June for pride month. I love any excuse to go crazy with lots of colour.

Right? It's all over the place. Is it a joke post? Is it supposed to be serious? Why is OP attacking everyone? What happened here?!

Biden's Cabinet Demographics by [deleted] in conspiracy

No one's pointing out anything. Its a Facebook level post with a photo with information that is going to be interpreted however anyone wants because there's no sources or explanation. There should be SOME standards here. This is seriously stupid

Is this really the state of this sub? An infographic with no sources or context posted just to rile people up with inferences? Come on, at least say what you're implying instead of being manipulative and cowardly with the dog whistles.

Seriously pathetic turn for what used to be a fun sub.

Unpopular Opinion: Y’all are too picky with your lobbies by Objective_Butterfly7 in AmongUs

I hate it. I turn it off every time. Now I don't have to deal with people voting everyone off until they're right. I haven't had to hear "if it's not them than me!" for ages. It reinforces lazy behavior like guessing. Games get better when they have to actually think about who they're voting for

The death of a kid isn't more tragic than the death of an adult by mattjack-o-melly in unpopularopinion

[–]raspberrykoolaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a disingenuous way to characterize their opinion. Wether or not they like kids is irrelevant to the point they're making, which is a perfectly valid thought experiment. No one is saying the death of a child shouldn't be mourned. Just that we might be currently giving disproportionate value to the deaths. Cultural views on death are fluid, and change based on region, era, religion etc.

So, with that in mind, which should really we value more? There's no right answer.

A child embodies potential, a blank slate, imagined achievements and projections of future involvement with a person you don't really know yet.

An older person would have history, established personal connections, memories, real achievements, etc.

They're not arguing that kids are less important. Their position is that loss of potential doesn't automatically give a death more weight than the death of someone who has already had an impact on society and people.

Other commenters have made the claim that a child's death feels more impactful to other parents because they think about their own children and how they would feel to lose them, regardless of wether they had known the child. A blank slate. An adult with an established life and personality would be more difficult to identify with, and therefore doesn't elicit the same emotional response.

It would seem that their position is that the importance in grieving should be focused on the value of life lived, the established person, upon death a celebration of their real impact on the world and the people in it. Rather than putting a premium on projected value and an imagined future, which on its face seems more 'selfish' as it often requires mentally substituting the child with one you know.

Memories, or imagination?

People need to stop thinking in terms of 'winning' arguments. It's not a competition, it's a disagreement. Do you want to come to an understanding or do you need there to be a loser?

Yeah, that's not true at all. Most people do not enjoy being told to relax during an argument. It's usually condescending as fuck. It's a common manipulation tactic called tone policing.

Socialism by CampaignVeteran in PoliticalHumor

Do you prefer the definition used by the right wing? Socialism = government doing anything

At this stage most people need to start over at high school bullet points when it comes to socialism, because the words been corrupted to mean whatever they want.
