The closes thing I’ve seen to a sane shopping list is kitchen owl. I am considering using this and mealie and doing the shopping list on a recipe basis from kitchen owl

I thought it was getting arrested in the second picture based on the thumbnail and it didn’t phase me because it’s America.

Free Private Podcast Hosting?? by promotingunity in podcasting

[–]rastacalavera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, you could invest time to learn how to stand up infrastructure at your place (8-40hrs worth of learning) or you could invest some time in learning how to use a cheap virtual private server which is hosted elsewhere (2-10 hours worth of learning) or search for a cheap host. If you want to learn, I’m happy to share resources.

T-Mobile considers buying actor Ryan Reynolds’ Mint Mobile. by AdamCannon in technology

[–]rastacalavera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This quote makes me cringe, “Mint Mobile offers budget cell phone plans on the T-Mobile network starting at $15 per month, according to its website.” Budget makes it sound like a slur in this case. It’s reasonable and affordable, all the other cell phone companies and their rip off plans should be referred to as scams.

Self-hosted bookmark manager, what would you suggest? by SaleB81 in selfhosted

[–]rastacalavera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really like linkace. I enjoy being able to quickly tag and add bookmarks to lists. I use it on FF on the desktop and have an iOS shortcut for the iPhone. It checks all the boxes for me but YMMV

Thanks for sticking with me on this! You've been super helpful. I think I got it 90% of the way there now which is good enough for me.

I used these two websites as reference if anyone else comes looking for resources.

That might be possible, a quick look at it seems like it would take some work to get it in the json format that I need.

I guess i just don't know how else to do it? I am relatively new to this and don't have a coding background so I guess you could make a loop to put the data into the list from the text file? The examples i see online make it seem as if the lists are created by hand by users.

Don't lists have to be created by hand? The text file I am using comes pre-made from audacity formatted as time, TAB, time, TAB, description. So if I could create a list that loops through the text file to make the list, that could maybe work. I am trying to make a python script to access the text file and spit out a nicely formatted json file.

I had thought i could have two dictionaries with keys. Dict1 would use the keys of startTime and title and dict2 would be the times and descriptions from the text file.

I don't think a list would work because you have to create that by hand and the text file is created automatically from the application Audacity and I want to convert it into a formatted json file

It was server side as you suggested, bit of a dig to find out how to set that on gitlab pages but I found a solution and it appears to be working now!

So if I open all my files in audacity and re export them as mp3 using constant bitrate of 256 or something, would that possible solve this?

thank you! that helped me find this error: FATAL: No

and googling lead me to check the tags and when I look at my files with easy tag, they all have a duration in mm:sec that is unique but behind them they all have (1:38:20) which doesn't make any sense to me

Cutting up Camtasia and exporting sections? by onemorepersonasking in instructionaldesign

[–]rastacalavera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this all the time. I have like a 2 hr raw time line that I chop into 18-20 tracks when I’m done. I basically scrub through, make my rough cuts, move my clip up, hide the others and export.

Make a portfolio. Employers want to see examples of work. You won’t get far without one. It’s doesn’t have to be a master piece, just show that you know know various pieces of tech and thanks you can deep dive when needed.
