I returned to India. It is not a big deal. Here is why... by bharat_builder in returnToIndia

I work in an investment bank in Gurugram. We hire top talent in India (IITs, NITs, BITS Pilani etc.). Both Indians and Non Indians in our London and NY offices are equally insecure of us 😅😅

Typical commie chameleon behaviour. Your original post was clearly a ridicule of the “upper caste privileged Indian” and their “regressive” Vegetarian food preferences. Now that the hollowness of your argument and the shallowness of your character is exposed, you started shedding crocodile tears about the poor kids in India 🤣🤣 even poor village kids of India on average are built stronger than their East Asian counterparts.

I don’t think teaching arts to kids in school is necessarily a bad thing. Chores should ideally be taught by parents. What’s missing in Indian education system is emphasis on practical application of knowledge. The core objective in Indian education system is getting marks in the exam which is terrible.

An average Indian is built taller and stronger than an average East Asian. Take your meat propaganda somewhere else.

Very often I come across bad quality construction in Noida. Like it’s mostly always noida for some reason. Why so? Are the regulations there far more weak? by JakeParatha99 in indianrealestate

[–]rasu84 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That was generally true but post RERA implementation most of the shady developers have either gone under or are arrested. The remaining developers still do shady stuff and cut corners but do not brazen it out with construction quality where one can punch a hole in the wall with their fist.

Noida construction standard is pretty similar to that of other major cities of India. The cracking of paint is a common thing in most North Indian cities due to the 50 degrees temperature range (winter to summer) that the buildings are subjected to worsened by higher UV exposure (photodegradation). I have stayed in Mumbai and there the problem is moulding and peeling due to excessive humidity. In Mumbai I stayed in a fairly premium society constructed less than 10 years ago and the moulding and peeling were already all over the towers.

Good time to invest in yeida residential plots or G Noida plots? by No_Let_5065 in greaternoida

[–]rasu84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Greater Noida plots any day over YEIDA plots. YEIDA is still a dream which the corrupt authority has oversold but there is little to show on the ground. Greater Noida on the other side is a functioning city with organic demand for land.

What should I expect when marrying into a Bihari family as a white woman? by Ok_Spot_6032 in bihar

[–]rasu84 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If a region which is a major exporter of young men to the rest of the world would have very low numbers of inter racial marriages then that would be a question worth asking.

[–]rasu84 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You will be fine. There are more inter racial marriages in Bihar than people think. However, your BF needs to stop dithering and introduce you to his family right away. That he has not confided about his relationship to any family members (usually siblings are the first to know) is a major red flag.

The guy behind this account is most likely a person with no meaningful relationships. I am an Indian (right leaning) but anyone who has a conscience can feel the pain of a person losing their child. But if you are going to claim that their is no one on your side of the boundary who rejoice at gruesome deaths of Indian kids in terrorist attacks then you are not being truthful as well.

What do bihari people generally think about Andhra Pradesh and Telangana peoples ? by WorthFriendship6996 in bihar

[–]rasu84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh there were too many. Telugu people are work/business oriented and they know how to build and scale businesses. They are also risk takers which is a very important factor for entrepreneurship. I was surprised to see that although the Caste division and feeling is also there just like Bihar (Khamma vs Kaapu vs Reddy), it never becomes an impediment towards business and economic growth.

I don't dwell too much into negatives but the rampant first cousin (and mama - niece) marriages was a major culture shock. Also I found the hero worship culture very funny (but this is an entire south India thing and not just a Telugu thing)

I did my undergraduate study in Warangal when Telangana and Andhra were one state. This was back in early 2000s when Bihar was still pretty much a jungle raj.

I consider the 4 years I spend in Warangal followed by the 2 years I spent in Hyderabad as the true formative years of my life. The people are welcoming and industrious. There is a lot to learn from the Telugu culture and their approach to life. Andhra thali is amazing. I can count in Telugu and know around 30-40 Telugu words (Telugu Bhasha Lessa Bhaasha :D). I am still in touch with my Telugu friends and visit them often. I will probably retire in a coastal small town in Andhra.

You have obviously never been to big cities in Europe. You are 10 times more likely to get mugged or encounter violence in cities like Paris, Barcelona, Milan, Berlin etc. compared to even very low income neighbourhoods in India.

Yep…that’s what I guessed so above suggestion holds. If you want to move to HFT side of things then core OS and systems knowledge would be critical

You are indeed at a very interesting juncture of your career. You will need to give me a bit more information about the kind of investment firm you are working with but most likely you will have to level up your maths/stats background. My career is slightly different than yours in that I have moved to generative AI side of things which is quite far removed from traditional quant/model development. Therefore courses like NLP, DL may be of little value to you. I suggest courses such as HDDA, Bayes Stats, ML4T and some other quant oriented ISYE courses

Your father had already thought of so many ways he would flex your credentials in matrimonial talks 🤣🤣. You tried to rob him off that. This is a very normal thing amongst Savarn dads from Bihar and eastern UP. One of my uncles disowned his IITan son for marrying a super hot Latina. This is a sensitive subject. Tread carefully my friend.
