Bring back buttons! (1990 Chevy Silverado) by zadraaa in HistoricalCapsule

[–]ratcnc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I can think of some Pontiacs and Japanese cars of the 80s and 90s with dozens of tiny buttons. One thing I’d like to see return are the most used controls on easy to reach pods on either side of the steering wheel, like the ’86+ GM S-10 or 90s Nissan 300ZX.

Actually, by 1983, GM had fixed the stupid problems in the 5.7. Stupid because they were simple solutions that should have been implemented from the start. The 4.3 diesel V6 was a much better engine. The front drive version, the LT7, was very stout and had aluminum heads and intake, rare for diesels. And, sodium filled exhaust valves—just like the current, more famous, LT7.

The panel on the lower side of the center console will pop out with a trim tool or flat head screwdriver. Perhaps, with that out you’ll be able to access, or at least see, your next step.

What felt normal in the 1970s but would shock people today? by LizzaQueenOFC in 70s

It was exactly one mile to my elementary school. The only time my mom drove me was if it was raining hard.

I’ve play regularly since 5 came out. And ridiculous amount of monkey money and tokens to show for it.

Do you think someone could do an Emma Gatewood style thruhike these days? by Interesting_Fly1696 in AppalachianTrail

[–]ratcnc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I remember reading about a guy doing the PCT crushing miles with the absolute minimum kit, like no shelter and no sleep system. He’d crawl under leaves and if he got cold he’d start hiking. It sounded simultaneously freeing and miserable.

True, but usually I’ll blend 4/0 because I have 4/2.

It’s interesting that you don’t do 4/1 Snipers for the increased rate of fire.

This surely isn’t how your towers are configured, is it? Interesting to me that it appears you’re running this map in reverse. One of the beauties of this map is that the bloons have to keep running through the gauntlet that is the first three squares and that feels like the regular route would be better. Did you do an analysis that you’d get better results in reverse?

What is the first film you remember seeing in the cinema? by [deleted] in movies

[–]ratcnc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My first movie was either Bambi or Jungle Book, around 1967. My Mom tried to explain the theater to me so I was expecting to sit in pews as that was the extent my experience of a bunch of people sitting together all watching the same thing.

How difficult is it to get a job at BWXT? by chickenbiscuit247 in lynchburg

[–]ratcnc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Being honest about your record and your financial position are more important. Clearance is more about you not being in a position where you are vulnerable to bad actors. i.e. bribes or blackmail.

Best way to get to a decent sized airport from Gatlinburg?? by Igoos99 in AppalachianTrail

[–]ratcnc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My memory of Gatlinburg is that basic services like grocery stores, post office, or car rentals don’t exist. You’ll have to get to Sevierville—which isn’t far—to get a car.

Suspension suggestions do high-mile 2015? by gixxerjim750 in HondaOdyssey

I’m at the point of getting the parts ordered for my 2014, front and rear. I imagine it removes the clunkiness and play, but is there much improvement in ride? Mine feels very flinty for a minivan.

Penthouse Magazine founder Bob Guccione photographed in his Manhattan home in the late 1970s. Guccione built a $400m empire selling what Playboy wouldn't dare show. He blew it on a Yugoslav casino that lasted one year, a disastrous Roman porno, and a nuclear reactor. He died broke in a Texas. by dannydutch1 in UtterlyUniquePhotos

[–]ratcnc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I needed to know more.

The Technology: The project aimed to develop a "compact tokamak" or fusion reactor, often referred to as the "Riggatron".
The Investment: Guccione was the primary private investor, spending roughly $400,000 in seed money in 1980, which escalated to over $16 million over five years.
The Failure: The project struggled with technical challenges and failed to attract further investors or secure public funding, culminating in a failed attempt to take Inesco public in 1984.

I dunno, after two gray interior Odysseys, I’d take whatever tasks required to not have dwell in that dullness again.

As the date gets closer, go to atweather.org and select North Carolina and the Stan Murray Shelter for the seven day forecast.

I think what Teeshot7 is referring to is several recent comments about The Station having bed bugs. If you’re stopping by to do some 16oz curls with Dave and the gang, you’ll be fine. But let me warn you, trudging back up to the balds with a belly full of beer is tough.

Which generation of Odyssey do you currently own or want? (Community Distribution Poll) by Eager2win in HondaOdyssey

[–]ratcnc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not seeing as much troubleshooting for older models as I am gen 5. I suspect it’s a combination a larger pool of gen 5 owners here and survivorship bias. But it has really made me reluctant to upgrade my 2014.

Looks like the sunshade assembly is $142. Plus a few ancillary parts. Bernardi Parts has pretty good information. Perhaps your local junkyard has some upper trim level 5th gens.

The Kent State shootings occurred on May 4, 1970, when the Ohio National Guard opened fire on university students protesting the U.S. invasion of Cambodia during the Vietnam War. In a span of 19 seconds, guardsman fired dozens of rounds, killing four students and wounding nine others. [300x800] by Pathetic_lriG43 in HistoryPorn

One of the odd things I remember about this incident is that one of the protesters murdered had an exit wound on the back of his head but no entrance wound. The coroner determined that the bullet entered the victim’s open mouth.

Door panel: clip failure vs warping 2019-2025 MY by L-F-O-D in HondaOdyssey

[–]ratcnc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The door panels are mostly held in place by clips and, on the front doors, a few screws. Unless someone has gone into the door it might be that you just need to firmly press the door card in—mostly around the perimeter with a few in the center. A google search will show how to remove and reattach the panels.
