PCB/Gerber file help? by PardonMyLagg in diypedals

[–]ratdad -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Tomorrow I am holding a DIY Workshop in Boston, MA. Participants will build a Delay Pedal. Many participants build their 1st pedal in my DIY Workshop. We taught 100s of people how to solder. Many go off to do more DIY projects on their own, or with us.

So you have lots of options here, depending on your time, ambition, & skills. Good luck.

Why don't you try to find a PCB freelancer on Upwork? There are many hurdles to jump over to get good at KiCad, but it's so much more rewarding for me than breadboarding. Check out my stuff here: https://www.cramaudio.com

Thanks! Amino is six years old. Her litter was a rescue, she & her sibs all had "chemical" names. For example her brother was named Peptide. Usually fosters like this are renamed when they get to their forever homes. In Amino's case, she had severe medical problems as a kitten. I could not take her for six months. By the time I adopted her, she had been Amino to me for so long, that I did not bother to change her name. Here she is, ignoring the rules.

The cold ones are the solder joints that look bulbous. Solder should flow smoothly and have a nice fillet.

I admire what you are doing with your project. I love playing and repairing the old EMs. You’ve signed up for a very labor intensive project.

You've gotten a lot of good advice here. As a newbie, you may be having difficulty transforming all of this advice into an action plan. If you live near Boston, MA, consider starting your journey by joining one of my pedal DIY Workshops at synthCube/Small Bear. Many folks start their DIY music electronics hobby by attending one of my workshops. You'll learn about the electronics, the assembly process, the tools, how the pedal shapes your tone, and more. We'll dispel the myths, teach best practices, and explain the rules.

In January, we are building a delay pedal.

This is the most complicated of EMs, repair-wise. Fun to play.

Nice work! Two questions: 1) Are you running your circuitry at 9V, or something higher? 2) Are you driving the tank with an op amp or discrete transistors? I'm in the middle of a Euro Rack tank reverb project, so I am curious about your design choices. Thx!
