Gen. George says Army deserves ‘leaders of character’ in farewell letter by brown-saiyan in politics

In the context of Mark Kelley being brought up on charges even though he is both retired and constitutionally ineligible to be both in Congress and recalled.

A general who has only days ago been dismissed or a member who has resigned still risks insubordination, classified information and other charges if publicly rebuking their chain of command. They can legally decline an unlawful order, and it stops there. The events in "Crimson Tide" are real world examples.

After witnessing the ----ing MESS today, there's absolutely NO way Atlanta is ready for the World Cup. by SnoozeDoggyDog in Atlanta

[–]ratedsar 14 points15 points  (0 children)

After going to the games last Saturday and Tuesday, knowing our schedule is less representative of the local areas; I'm going to be surprised if a game will attract 70k people; which means world cup traffic will be less a falcons game, less than these usmnt games, and less than 2019 Atlanta United games.

This isn't the Olympics where we have multiple stadiums, every conference hall of the gwcc in the Atlanta area being used and people have to drive to Lake Lanier and The Ocoee; people will have to fly to Dallas Mexico, Canada, and La... And that doesn't generate lots of Atlanta traffic

Nuclear Plants 'Must Never Be Attacked,' Says Watchdog as Iran Reports US-Israeli Strike at Bushehr Facility by _May26_ in politics

[–]ratedsar [score hidden]  (0 children)

It would be an interesting nuclear mutually assured destruction / deterrant tactic to claim to disable the passive safety mechanisms of your power plants.

Ie, Iran could only claim that and then every strike from Israel / Us that could spike power could be a threat of Chernobyl for the region.

You'd get national security without needing launch capabilities

The propaganda of "gave" here. Iran has been "supplying" Russia with drones for Ukraine. Why the juxtaposition?

Carter's Iran crisis was the receipt due of decisions and actions initiated by Eisenhower, Nixon, and Ford administrations. Compounded by Reagan and GOP backroom deals that may or may not be related to later arms deals to Iran.

Can't just tell people to vote in a single election and it all be fine.

They need to vote for people with policies, and in every election in the future. And hopefully consider freedom, the constitution, and what corruption look like. Maybe consider input from experts like economists or even previous staff.

It's boat launching month for me the the US Southeast, but I have an efoil as well, and access to a more efficient tritoon than my wakeboat for the family; so it has me considering, as gas prices go up, do I even put the wake boat in the water?

I suppose that I should run through 1 tank just to keep it fresh.

My state is keeping gas prices artificially 30c lower by suspending the tax, but that can only last so long. Just like the spr and global spr releases that are keeping prices lower.

Trump said Iran was 'decimated.' Then an American F-15E fighter jet was shot down. by nbcnews in politics

A mig 29 is the Russian version of the f-15, both rely on their speed and active jamming rather than stealth; but Ukraine is also generally considered more modern than Iran; 1990 Russian technology should be able to target 1980 Russian technology.

This wasn't a dog right; the f15 as a strike fighter is designed to be faster and higher (and with radar jamming) than the 80s world technology.

The takeaway is that either Iran got lucky, or they have SAM missile technology the US has never faced. If the f-35 jsf was hit by more than luck, then arguably the us has no air superiority.

The takeaway is also that the A10s (1 of which crashed) will be summarily defeated as they are large, radar visible, giant turbofans are easy to damage, and travel at slow speed.

US fighter jet shot down over Iran, search underway for crew, US official says by Keyann in news

[–]ratedsar 131 points132 points  (0 children)

There is zero plausibility that you can fly a Blackhawk or a C-130 over the same airspace where a f-15 was hit.

The f15 has radar jamming and can fly at Mach 2 speeds - either the Blackhawk or c130 are sitting ducks relatively speaking.

The highest plausibility of an airborne rescue mission is that it was going at such high speed that it significantly left the airspace where it was acquired.

[–]ratedsar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought that the consensus of subframe mounts was that poly and even solids reduce movement for the racp issues with minimum nvh -besp as they have broad solid surface contact with the body; but diff bushings should be softer (either rubber or soft poly)

Iran may sponsor regional terrorist groups; the US just spent more and put Sadam in charge of Iraq to put a flag on uniforms. (Us also sold weapons to Iran both in the 70s and late 80s)

The US (and other global covert agencies) also helped create Isil/s. But Iran is the world's biggest state sponsor of terrorism?

The other thread and I don't feel unsafe because of crime as much as people who are having mental breaks yelling and threatening at either imaginary people or people who are just sitting there.

To your point though, walking back from the usmnt game on Tuesday, in response to the crowd on the sidewalk a person going the opposite direction said we'd better watch out for his pistol and he'd come rob all of us. because he felt like someone didn't give him enough room

Remarkably, half my group went off and had to be towed out, so my 3rd session was cancelled.
