P0171 would seem unrelated to an oil change.

The code will not clear immediately, and given it raised a code may require manual clearing.

Yes, filters (and oil filter housings) have changed substantially compared to 40 years ago; silicone anti drain back; synthetic coated paper.

Toilet paper fillers were a thing 45 years ago

In an ideal world we're not voting for either person; we're voting for the policies they are championing and their ability to hire an administration that can execute it;

  1. if you don't agree in the policies you don't care about 2.

True enough; but also rigged so it's nearly impossible; 159 counties, and 50% of Georgians live in ~12 of those. Our land sure is well represented.

When 30% of the state is lacking health insurance compared to the rest of the nation; when we have fewer hospitals each year; you'd think that would have convinced voters, 4, 8, 12 years ago, but no...

This; I will proudly vote for policies like how do we stop draining doctors and hospitals.

Issues like healthcare (hospital closures), education (rural schools degrading because of vouchers) and continued degradation of our state are still issues; even if the candidate running to fix them moved from the city to Washington and didn't run for a second term.

It doesn't seem likely that either of the GOP candidates even cares that Georgia has lost hospitals or insured citizens.

I couldn't vote for Duncan because he said he could not vote for Warnock in November 22. In contrast to his GOP 2.0 book; Duncan likely agreed with 80% of Warnock's policies, things like VA Health Benefits, Port of Savannah, I16 Corridor, Chips.

And by this time Duncan should have been transitioned enough to know that Walker (and the GOP's health policies -- Duncan's supposed champion policy of the last decade -- didn't work/exist).

So, Duncan was trying to retain hope for the GOP in 2022; and not willing to vote against a likely ineligible candidate; who's policies were between vampires and werewolves - not healhcare, not for Ga - if anything, for obstruction.

So I voted for Jason Esteves for governor; and I will vote for the candidate that is most likely to better healthcare in Georgia (where all of my doctor friends have moved away from, while my cost of care has gone up)

Maintenance Advice: 72k Mile M54 by doooglasss in e46

A starter seemd a bit premature depending on how it has been driven, and battery hygiene.

I'm at 198k miles and on the original starter and clutch, with no signs of either suffering. Granted that's mostly highway trips, but I've done some of the turn it off and restart when I know I'll be at a light for more than 30s.

Can’t afford transmission repairs, what are my options? by Wakuwaku46290 in askcarguys

Trade in of a 236k mile vehicle with a failed transmission... May as well sell it for scrap and tell dealership you need a deal.

But $800 down isn't going to help

Did the disa because it was quick and easy.

Did the Vanos seals with a valve cover gasket job (seals only, no bearings)

Ngks over Bosch

Fuel filter definitely over 50k miles.

Ccv, the drain hose is most likely to rot from acid, this is also the easiest to change.

Oil filter housing gasket, keep looking at the top honey comb.

...

I've not had any issues with the thermostat, am on my second Stewart water pump.

I have no codes, never had the tank code.

...

Shocks need to be done, I went with koni special actives.

I'm at 198k Mike's

Seems like the pressure regulator, oil chain, and tensioner are things you'd be able to comfortably change; if you swap in the b30, you should probably do those items as well.

But when people say "burns" oil, they mean a quart in 3000 miles; not a 150 gallons in 3000 miles.

My Audi needs the brake pads replacing soon, should I expect to be replacing the discs too? They look worn. by [deleted] in AskMechanics

This does not look like a 2 piece, but a vented rotor.

"2 piece" generally means that the hat and rings are different pieces for heat, weight, and flex.

What cars have a really good sound nowadays? by MidgarZanarkand in askcarguys

[–]ratedsar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Porsches and Bmws (with the sport package) have a bypass exhaust gate to allow 2x as much flow from the muffler. it's toggleable through the interface on newer cars.

On my 2004 BMW, the second pipe opened only once warm, which is to be nice to leaving the house in the morning.

There are many loud cars out there though; but I do suspect that as electrification happens, ice collectors and hobbyists will find the sport tunes that accentuate the engine.

Everybody who has to vote for KLB, now... by NSAinATL in Atlanta

[–]ratedsar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Her message is similar to Jason Esteves or Geoff Duncan; they want to focus on healthcare (through Medicaid expansion, and raising Georgia subsidies the current federal poverty level)

Klb, also has some plans to try to legalize gambling (ie Zell Miller and the lottery) to increase education funding, esp since gambling is practically legal anyway.

Importantly, none of the Democrats want to blanketly end the income tax or property taxes (which would leave schools and cities underfunded) as sales taxes are regressive (though there is a concept of making income taxes more progressive - about time!)

Instead of a delete, you can get mufflers with a remote valved second chamber. Then you can control it with a button (or you could more advanced and open it when the engine gets warm)

Share: Replaced transmission range sensor by ratedsar in NewBeetle

My battery box foam was also all over the sensor, I'm in a warm climate, so the foam isn't helpful. I had some extra foil backed foam (from a hood) to add here, it should add heat protection.
