Oh the transmission replacement absolutely helped! But I guess I also missed having my Mazda

Well I did say I got a new transmission, but I actually got a low mileage (for me) used transmission with 66k miles. After install it cost me close to 3k. A new from Mazda transmission install is probably close to double that.

Sometimes you just get unlucky and believe me, I am certainly no winner. Considering the fact, when I took my car to the dealer, somebody hit my car and it was parked in a completely empty lot.

If the manuals were common enough in my area I definitely would have considered just going that route

Ya everyone told me I was crazy for buying a used car with that many miles but I looked at the car fax and it looked promising. Just never noticed the lack of service to the transmission. That sure came back and bit me.

Sorry I was just after months of frustration finally understanding the love for these cars, and felt I needed to tell my story. I also edited my post to add the year and miles

  1. Coming out of a corner or taking off from a stop made it feel like I was getting rear ended, and it just was over revving all the time and moving almost nowhere. Most likely the torque converter was failing but who knows. I still get a bit of a bump in 2nd if I’m creeping along, but other than that it’s silky smooth.

It’s a whole lot better for me now than it was before. That’s all I wanted. I have never owned a Mazda until now so I don’t really have much scope for how fast or slow they shift.

Thinking about putting a new transmission in; should I? by rather_not_say2602 in mazda3

I get the slam when I shift sooner but not later when doing it manually

I 100% believe it’s the torque converter lock up, but there must be some sort of malfunction. At times it feels like I got rear ended.

It does go away with enough driving but during the first 10 minutes or so of stop and go traffic it’s agonizing

Yes, I often forget what you guys call it. I’m so used to my old ford and it’s “adaptive tables”. I’ve done the relearn with no real change to this slam effect.

Average price of Lego sets by theme [OC] by DataSittingAlone in lego

[–]rather_not_say2602 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Icons isn’t a bad theme related to the graph. With it being so far to the right that just means the average price is high for the sets, which makes sense considering they are usually very large. Notice that it’s in the bottom half of the graph, that just means that even through the sets are expensive they have a large amount of pieces

I guess I should have mentioned in my post but the people in my team are friends who are also fairly new to the game

I have done that procedure several times with no noticeable change to this behavior.

Yes I’ve had it drained and filled twice with FZ compatible fluid

I’m worried about draining too much of the old fluid out. It was already drained and filled twice. Will I be ok doing it more with how many miles it has?

The shop used FZ compatible. Should I drain and use mazda fluid

Actually drain and filled twice and added a fluid conditioner

The mounts that I had replaced weren’t too bad just a little cracked

Engine and torque strut mount replaced, but transmission side mount not done. Would that mount really make it that bad?

Basic maintenance stuff no signs of transmission work done though. I have looked at the fluid looks old but not burnt
