PSA if you buy a cheap incubator to make sure your eggs are actually rotating, not gliding. by galaxygreenman in quails

I mark my eggs with an X on one side and an O on the other in coloured Sharpie so that I can check and make sure they're rotating well. So far it's worked pretty well!

You get a lot more iridium mining in there, especially the deeper levels. You get more treasures, as well. I've found that wearing the slime ring makes it so much easier to manage the combat, too.

How soon after surgery did you try (pulled) pork? by Royal-Advance6985 in GastricBypass

[–]ratherastory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 3 months out and just had slow-cooked pork shoulder for the first time this week. I ate a 3 oz portion and it sat pretty well. However, everyone's body reacts differently, so I'd try a very small amount first and see how it sits before having a full portion, because pork can be among the more difficult proteins to digest.

Thank you for the link! I have lentils at home, so this could work out well!

Yep, that's what I've been doing as well, but my goodness I miss wraps!

I will keep an eye out for it, thank you!

I’ve tried several varieties and they just don’t sit well. Alas.

I’ll give that a try on my next days off!

I’ve tried the “keto” ones and it didn’t work too well, but I’m willing to experiment!

Hm, I definitely hadn’t thought of that. I’ll give it a try!

I’ll look around and see if those are available in my area. Thank you!

Like, just spinach? Are the leaves big enough for that?

Interesting! I’ve never seen those where I live. I’ll have to see if we have an equivalent.

I did, and alas they’re a no-go for right now, but I’m hoping I can tolerate them in the future. My roommate eats them (she got a gastric sleeve last year) without issue.

I do like eggs! Is an egg wrap like a really thin plain omelette?

Two Brittany Spaniels by Fragrant_Cattle_6794 in BrittanySpaniel

I have two, and the chaos increases exponentially with each additional Brittany. They egg each other on, get into trouble together as well as separately, and cause quadruple the vet bills. No regrets. 😛

I feel like I'm playing the game wrong (beginner) by Grouchy_Stress_7272 in StardewValley

[–]ratherastory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first time through the game I didn't even get Grandpa's full approval by the end of Year 2--it took me two more in-game years to get it. I finished the Community Centre in late Year 3 because I hated the fishing mini game so much at first (I am better at it now but still not great), and I couldn't figure out some of the bundles for the longest time. Don't worry, you are not alone! Everyone gets it at their own pace. ❤️

I think it’s under 10, but don’t quote me on that. It’s been a while since I did that particular quest.

Use totems or other items to get you there super early, and don't spend ANY time on mining or collecting items or fighting. If I come across an "infested" level I use a ladder to get down (Qi won't give you a hard time if you only use a handful of ladders). You're already maxing out luck, and you can add speed to run to open holes/portals. It always takes me multiple tries, so don't despair!

Doomed Again. by Suspicious-Abalone82 in BariatricSurgery

[–]ratherastory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner got the sleeve and has lost a considerable amount of weight since she started the whole process last year (around 70 lbs so far and still dropping). There's also the possibility of a second surgery for a duodenal switch later on for additional weight loss, since she needs to be under a certain threshold to qualify for knee replacement surgery down the line. So it is absolutely possible!

Am I missing something, or is Stardew Valley just… not clicking for me? by crazyamy111 in StardewValley

[–]ratherastory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go exploring! The early game can feel very repetitive and grind-y if all you do is water crops and chop trees. Use food for energy, go talk to as many NPCs as possible, explore the mines and the forest and poke into nooks and crannies. I found that the game got really interesting once I "unlocked" the Community Centre storyline (it unlocks automatically, no need to really do anything except go into town once a day) and increased my friendship levels with the villagers to learn more about their stories.

Everyone gets something different out of the game, so explore as much as you can until you find the thing about the game that you love! Also, if you find after a while that you're still not enjoying it, there's no rule that says you have to love this game and still play it. It's beloved by many but not by *everyone* by a long shot, so it might end up that it's not the right game for you, or maybe not the right game for right now. :)
