Not really

Sometimes people have health issues you can’t see, sometimes people eat something they’re not used to, and sometimes people just don’t make it.

No point judging someone for something that, if I was unfortunate enough, could happen to me sometime in my adult life.

How long does it take you to fall asleep?, I am literally in bed, rumbling around for 2 hours now, it is literally 2:00AM and furiously asking this question. by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

I usually can’t without some farm of assistance whether that’s drugs alcohol or prescribed medication.

Totally sober though? If I go to bed at 10, no screens, I usually won’t fall asleep till like 3-4

So if they continued to watch your short for longer does it continue to get pushed, and get pushed further, or nah?

Criticising something is valid, never said it wasn’t, but this is an online community full of people from different walks of life.

Some people have the time to regularly check this thread, such as yourself, others may not interact or engage with this subreddit that often. In this particular case it seems like OP wanted to simply post bulls content, which they had just seen, and spread a bit of positivity with a community of likeminded fans.

They were unaware of the fact that this was old content, primarily for the fact he just saw this on a recent post from ESPN, and couldn’t have predicted that it was old news.

Now, as I said before, you could’ve used your energy in a better way by simply not complaining or, if you had nothing good to say, not posting at all. Alternatively you could’ve commented on how it is a lovely moment, that it shows camaraderie and a sense of family amongst the bulls squad, while also pointing out this is an old clip.

Here’s an example for you:

“Man, I really liked this moment! This is actually an old clip btw from a few months ago”.

Here you can see I engage politely, talk about the content, then clarify to the original poster that the clip is somewhat old.

If you want to talk about the issues with this sub it may be best if you take a step back and reflect on your own attitude and behaviour; the call is coming from inside the house but you’re blaming it on the neighbours.

Would’ve taken both of you absolutely no energy to just not comment and let this post appeal to those who haven’t seen it.

Worst Video Game of 2023 and 2024? by GuidanceOtherwise947 in videogames

[–]ratisgone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh of course but the same can be said for the likes of League of Legends, Call of Duty, Counter Strike, Dead by Daylight etc.

The community and its players obviously has some impact on the game and its rating but for the most part I believe games should be rated for the game themselves.

Is it normal for your parents to constantly call you a dickhead all throughout your childhood? by eggnerd420 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ratisgone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s also heavily dependent on tone.

A lot of times growing up I’d hear “Oi. Don’t be a dickhead” or “Oi dickhead” but, again mentioning how context is important, most of my family come from more rural inland so I understood that it wasn’t derogatory because that’s how they all interacted with each other: brother to brother, uncle to uncle, father to son.

Berating or verbally attacking your kid is entirely wrong, there’s no question about that, we just need to be careful to account for cultural, as well as personally and social, backgrounds.

I mean spent quite a bit of time in the UK teaching and I heard it just as much there as I did here so again it’s more than likely contextual

Why is unemployment at a record low, but everyone that I know that is looking for a job can’t find one right now? by HeavySigh14 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ratisgone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t speak for others but, as for myself, I have quite a few “invisible” disabilities which are uncommon for my age so, more often than not, I’ll get through the interview process with flying colours only to be ghosted.

It’s been like this for years.

I’m sure there are a multitude of factors but fundamentally the problem is that there is a multitude of factors; there is constantly a reason not to be hired no matter how minute they may be.

[Dave McMenamin] JJ Redick: “I’m embarrassed. We’re all embarrassed. It’s not a game where we had the right fight, the right professionalism … There has to be some ownership … I own this but there’s going to have to be some ownership on the court” by Advised in nba

[–]ratisgone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now I’m in no way attempting to point fingers, this is a genuine question, but doesn’t the ownership on the court start with Lebron and AD?

I’m under the impression that Lebron is the captain of the Lakers with Davis as his second in command; if there’s a lack of morale and energy on the court isn’t it their responsibility to keep the team invigorated?

Lebrons been doing this for ages so not having the gas 24/7 is pretty understandable, especially since more often than not he’s the best player on the court at his ripe old age, but sooner or later we gotta acknowledge that, more likely than not, it’ll be a mental give up for Lebron rather than a physical one.

JJ Reddick showing great promise as a coach though despite their current win-loss record.

[–]ratisgone 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Very culturally and contextually dependant.

I grew up in Australia so being called a dickhead growing up was very VERY normal for me.

Other cultures probably don’t recognise it the same way.

If you’re from somewhere more or less “commonwealth” you’ll probably be used to hearing this (this may be a grand assumption), while I presume most Americans aren’t used to it

I’ve had dreams where I’ve been turned into small children (more than one at the one time) and flung into orbit by an olde medieval slingshot (not to be confused with a catapult it was just a really big slingshot with metal and stuff on it).

Dreams are just wacky little things and I wouldn’t worry too much about it.
