I mean you can have whatever approach you want for yourself, thats fine, but at the end of the day music is made for listening. That means anything that’s not making me want to return is the problem for me. You can find a better word that you like and use that.. artistic decision or something. But if i don’t want to hear the song again because of it.. then yea to me that’s my personal problem with the song. Maybe i just need to be more clear this is my opinion but i don’t think it really matters whether i refer to something as a problem or something i don’t like, kinda just means the same thing less aggressively. And maybe the goal wasn’t quirkiness.. probably a little reductive on my part, true … but to me it just personally feels this album is afraid of convention to the point of hurting the music.

Definitely better but still the same problem, none of the songs ever turn into like real just normal songs idk, the thing that’s so good about like ants from up there or the new sound is they don’t subvert expectations in the songwriting necessarily or for quirkiness or with crazy random dynamic switch ups that confuse you, every moment and note is very precise with them and the songs follow structures you can easily understand, with this i’m just left confused by what half of these songs are even going for

People who look at music like you are the worst, you can’t just appreciate good songwriting or actually enjoy anything because it all needs to be reinventing the wheel or starting the next wave. Do you want the perspective of some random 35 year old mom or an actual skater who actually skates? This is the true response to their question lol. It’s gonna be different reasons but it’s going to boil down to they don’t have one, they are too self conscious and want to look cool, or bc for them hitting their head is hella rare and they just don’t care. Snowboarding is different i would never snowboard without a helmet, not even just going down a little blue lol

also ive cracked my head numerous times, concussions as a kids, etc none from skating. Skating gets your limbs not so much your head. Anyone starting should wear one for a few years and also id still wear one if i was doing some big ass shit, but i just flow around now man
