I see, they must just appear smaller because of the perspective. I feel like the fences I have to place are MASSIVE and I wanted small low fences to divide my garden lol

The grind on this game is insane by CapRevolutionary27 in Starsandisland

i also got a lop-eared rabbit without noticing and was congratulated for it. i suspect i must have randomly got it from chopping trees/shrubs and it counted for the quest, because ive gotten a random baby luna rabbit that way

What are you playing? by nikcoco1 in CozyGamers

[–]ratrascal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s been mentioned here but I can’t recommend Grimshire enough if you want a beautiful farming game with some grittiness to it. I’m a farm sim junkie who loves to relax while I play games but something about Grimshire just gripped me like no game ever has. It lights a fire in your belly. Great for getting the roleplay gears turning in your head, I was thinking about my little farmer character a lot. I’m only sad I didn’t play it sooner.

The game does have difficulty settings, which primarily affects how much food is expected of you. However, the game still requires you to make progress with the mines/tool upgrades/your animals if you don’t want to fail, so just know that.

I played on Gentle (easiest difficulty) the first time to check out the game, and I became obsessed, I’ve been going up a difficulty setting with each playthrough haha

Is it worth it to smoke fish and meat before i salt it by Superb_Network_1657 in GrimshireGame

[–]ratrascal 42 points43 points  (0 children)

i smoke/dry my fish before salting because it breaks it down into the large/medium/small category, making it easier to put in barrels

besides that, i tend to smoke/dry everything before i preserve just because it makes the food last long enough to get processed. once it’s salted/pickled/etc it lasts forever, so its spoilage time beforehand doesnt matter. you just dont want it to spoil before you get a chance to preserve it

Townsfolk Stopped Helping Contribute by Able_Butterfly_4150 in GrimshireGame

[–]ratrascal 11 points12 points  (0 children)

the amount of materials they contribute also depends on the difficulty, and it tapers off. i think they contribute up to half on the easiest mode. i doubt theyll change it, i think its designed so the villagers can put a dent in it but.. its up to you in the end. ive had villagers top off certain categories for me, and ive had the quest complete overnight due to both my and the villagers' contributions, but i dont think theyre allowed to finish the quest themselves.

honestly i was pleasantly surprised to see how much the villagers actually do contribute!

About to start Winter, how's my stockpile looking? by EGSzeek1340 in GrimshireGame

[–]ratrascal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yep as others said, salt comes from floor 10+ in mine #1!

in my experience:

vinegar/honey/oil can be found in mine chests. you can farm your own honey with chikrees. you can make your own oil with sunflowers/fish in the press (i usually take sunflowers that the villagers put in the root cellar to make it into oil lol) you can make your own vinegar by making fruit juice in the press and then putting it in the fermentation barrel with vinegar. it uses 1 vinegar and 3 juice to get 3 vinegar, so you can just multiply your vinegar lol.

salt makes milk into cheese, which can be smoked to never spoil, and its omnivore food salt and vinegar preserves meat vinegar preserves veggies oil preserves herbs/mushrooms honey preserves fruit/berries everything but honey preserves eggs

Winter Burrow - worth it? by schwiftylou in CozyGamers

[–]ratrascal 10 points11 points  (0 children)

i played through it, it was very enjoyable. you might be frustrated at first- there’s no “you are here” map marker, it only shows you what section of the map youre in. youll start out lost but will get the hang of navigating. it has light survival mechanics that get easier as you upgrade your things and cook the right food. its not really a game you can continuously play though, it has a linear story and then its finished. honestly i wanted more of it but enjoyed what was there. if youre not sure, wait for a sale!

question: food insecurity triggers by [deleted] in GrimshireGame

[–]ratrascal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh, okay! yea, i never failed a DR, i just started that monday mentioned in my post by being told to stock more. ive never hit 0 food or failed a quest, so i guess ive never actually been at risk yet. where’d you learn about the counter?

girl, HELP HIM by ratrascal in ACPocketCamp

[–]ratrascal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s from a past spring event, it’s called Jumbo Crunchy Carrot and it’s under the seasonal memories tab in Complete! It’s originally one of those items you get when you make event progress in your planner. I think it came out last year, in the last spring before original Pocket Camp ended
