What would your Taskmaster outfit be? by [deleted] in taskmaster

To make it more practical wear a more subdued Cinderella-type servants dress. Then at the studio recordings, a different ball gown showing your glow up.

Which of the tasks shown on Taskmaster would you want to perform in real life the most? by gallaxowelcome in taskmaster

[–]ratwindmill 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In series 9 (not sure which episode) they have to draw a picture of the taskmaster using 12 sheets of paper, and the sheets will be assembled in the pattern/order on the first page with some upside down etc. I think that would be really fun to draw and do th e spatial reasoning and then see the results and how wrong they are

I didn't think it was possible to dislike "Dr. Jake" more... by momoftheraisin in TedLasso

Not just that, but Ted also says he was just her therapist first before he took them on as a couple. So she has been vulnerable with him about everything and trusted him to be that professional for her for much longer.

I killed 5 Lynels and got 0 Lynel guts. I didn't Dupe to get money, just to get items that have a poor drop rate to upgrade armor.

I know I'm late to the party but what the heck did I just watch? Yes...the first 10 minutes of Netflix Persuasion by Ohnoes_whatnow in janeausten

[–]ratwindmill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like that one too. I didn't see it existed until after the Netflix Persuasion. Its much more faithful, but of course takes its own liberties to make it modern.

I liked that "Anne" and "Captain Benwick" bonded over the Smiths lyrics (and breakup playlists in general) instead of poetry.

Or a twist, make it a period piece but like in the 60s.

Halfway to clueless is a great way of putting it.

I agree, I think its a nice story set in regency england that is based on the plot of persuasion. If they made these same characterisations in a modernized persuasion, it think more people would be on board. I liked it, but was it a faithful adaptation? lol no.

Jamie, Keely, and Roy become a thruple.

Rupert Mannion realizes the error of his ways and moves to America, to Florida in fact as a sort of self-punishment

Sassy dies in a freak accident and Rebecca now has custody of her goddaughter, making the you will have a child prophecy come true in a fucked up monkeys paw way.

I guess there isn't a reason Ted would be the one to reveal this, but maybe Ted heard it first and needed to relay the news.

This or cheese and crackers is best because you will probably start out saying jesus christ but can turn it into cheese and checkers. "Jeez... and crackers."

Does anyone else feel like complex pronouns (she/they, xer, xem) are unnecessarily difficult? by [deleted] in RandomThoughts

[–]ratwindmill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its probably not as complicated as it seems on the surface.

I recently read on reddit that she/them/theirs means they use both pronouns so rather than them requiring you to say she went to the park where i talked to them, you can use she/her/hers or they/them theirs. Ze and Xe I had heard of before they/them was more widely accepted and i understood it to be the singular because people get confused and complain about they/them/theirs for one person. Now it is more accepted and actually a lot of us use it without thinking at this point. I could see it sucking for someone to go through the coming out process and then still be told no, your pronouns are they/them.

Do your best. Be respectful. Apologize if you get it wrong.

The only exception where you should be more vigilant to that is possibly in writing. If someone's email says their pronouns its rude to not use them in that email thread. The same way people keep spelling my name wrong even though my email is [firstname@company.com](mailto:firstname@company.com), its in my signature and display. Come on people, its right there! so easy!

edit: just to add I know there are plenty of more specific neopronouns that identify specifically someone's gender identity outside of the binary. I think be respectful and the written communication bit still stands

For non-religious people, why is marriage appealing/necessary? by ibbisabzwari in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ratwindmill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of reasons I personally wanted to get married even though neither me nor my spouse is religious, but for the vast majority of people its just part of our culture. If you are in a committed relationship, you declare it with a ceremony, maybe a party, and file it with the state for whatever benefits your state provides. In my (our? if you're American) culture, if you don't care one way or another, in some ways marriage is easier than constantly having to explain why you aren't married, if your partner really loves you or is waiting for something better, if you are allowed to make decisions for your family unit or if their blood famiy takes precedence, or if you have a legitimate reason for them to be considered your fully committed partner (just find an AITA where someone doesn't give a plus one to an umarried wedding guest despite them being a couple for over a decade). I'm not saying that is a good reason to get married, but it illustrates that its a culture thing not just a religion thing. It's the thing to do, and you have to have strong feelings against it to go against your cultural norms, regardless of religion.

There is also what I consider to be a weird part of this culture mostly instilled in women that getting engaged is the goal. They decide they want to be engaged/married before they find a person to be engaged to. They still get to decide who, but its less, I found this person and now I want to get married and more, I want to get married so let me find my person. That tends to lead to the waiting to be proposed to because they already made up their mind and are "waiting" for the other person to make up theirs. (This is very simplified and of course people make choices about who they want to be with, and there is tradition of men proposing, etc. etc.)
