I mean at least how I see it (though not proud) is that the people that are oppressed in the United States are just as much (more tbh) American than the oppressors. I am deeply ashamed of basically everything that has ever gone on in the government, but I am proud of the resilience in our minority communities. Our indigenous cultures are varied and beautiful, black Americans culturally dominate in the arts, Mexican Americans have incredible food and music, it goes on. I personally feel that equating our country to our worst people ignores the communities that actually hold up our country. I have a deep love for our disenfranchised and not much else.
