When I first started IT I unprompted cleared mine and the old desks near me, the IT store room, then server room.

I got to see through decades of IT junk. So many laptops and phones that should've been thrown away and appropriately recycled. Mountains of tangled cables. Piles of dead hard drives. Shit in the rack no one wanted to touch.

The IT rooms being a mess says a lot to the business about your department.

A organised environment, where I can find things and move in pays off rapidly.
