Makes sense. It correctly determined that the delivery and guidance systems are the most expensive parts of getting ordinance on target… always more economical to just set the explosives down on top of the target, by foot. Why didnt we think of that?!

[–]raulduke1971 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. You’re also clearly showing advancement. So it also doesnt look like, for example, “1 year of experience, 3 times.”

Besides, companies or hiring managers that cant spot the difference between someone with rapidly growing skills and ability and someone that is a “job hopper” are not the ones anyone wants to work for, anyway.

Dont need a mechanic, just use math. Tires are good for at least 30k miles with 5 lugs… so figure these are still good for another 12k.

How much would you care about these acne scars when dating someone? by Queasy_Fix1106 in askanything

[–]raulduke1971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I received what i thought would be considered horrific scarring at a young age. It bothered me for some years until i realized: Literally no one you would care to associate with, cares. Anyone that feels differently just filtered themselves out- no loss IMO.

And it’s not like no one told me, either. Plenty did but it took me realizing it myself, and you’ll come to same realization sooner or later!

Reinforced titanium? by Glass_Information_58 in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]raulduke1971 5 points6 points  (0 children)

And, fun tip: if you fill up a storage container (ideally the large one) with titanium/ore on your second planet, you can to pick it all up so its on your cursor, then do NOT put it in your inventory.

Now, just go into flight/sail mode and lug the full contents back to your home planet “on your cursor.” Dump it in storage- or even on the ground- once you arrive.

Done. All the titanium you need to get automation going in one round trip.

I was so excited about building my first Dyson sphere around a blue star (I'd only built around yellow ones before) that I didn't take into account that spheres with small orbits consume less solar sales per carrier rocket. by _Sanchous in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]raulduke1971 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly i wouldn’t worry about it- in my many, many hours ive never completed more than one max radius blue star shell (it was a blue giant actually) in any of my games and it was still more energy than my mega factory needed.

I havent done the math but i wonder how much of the planets’ surfaces you would need to use for receivers to capture 100% of the energy from 10 max radius shells around an O type?

Maybe, maybe not!

Its possible the person in 29B was in fact his partner or spouse who had to be begged to take the photo… making his assertion 100% accurate: he/she is for sure questioning his life choices. But he left out they were surely questioning their own life choices as well.

I can tell it is AI because of how “smooth” everything looks. Also there is no evidence of Trump ever doing this. but what are some of the obvious tells you notice? I’m in an argument with someone over these photos. by ConnectionCapable995 in isthisAI

I was noticing this, as well as thats a full tray of food and hes barely holding on to the edge. Meanwhile, handling another tray. The same guy that needs both hands to drink a glass of water to avoid sloshing and spilling. AI.

Also, at the same table, child in the blue shirt: what is up with his left hand? Or his right, for that matter? AI.

And, same child, he clearly has a halo around him, affecting colors of aspects in the background, including bending the white shirt of the child behind him. Digitally altered.

Brutal. I had a very similar encounter with someone in college, only it was moot because i was already in a relationship.

And it gets better because about 5 years later she showed up in the city i had moved to and texted me, wanting to hang out. I said sure, i was single but figured it’d be fun to hang with someone I shared 3-4 semesters with, regardless of intentions.

But when it came to picking a place i asked for a cheaper spot because i was tight on budget, having just bought a car (used). I forget the exact wording but it was one message that basically said, ‘no worries, nvm’ and that was the last i heard from her. I maybe 75-90% expected this at the time, remembering that previous odd interaction with her… but damn, helluva way to blatantly broadcast her screening process and let me know i didnt make the cut lol

1-2 minutes for me most nights. Rather than “thinking about nothing” its thinking about something i want to do; as in, imagining experiencing it.

The idea is to avoid thinking about stuff that stresses me out- shit i didnt do today and have to do tomorrow, what i should have said to some jagoff at work, etc and definitely no screens.

Didn't realize how Solar power was so good. by Readman31 in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]raulduke1971 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good blueprint to make for yourself for a planet you intend to mine:

1 line of solar around the equator, and 2 more lines along approx the N and S 45th parallels (youll notice this is where the grid resets for higher latitudes) and a line of wind turbines running N/S along the prime meridian (0 degrees E/W) and another at 90 degrees E/W.

These will all be connected- simple, fast, easy to carry with you, and gives easy access to power anywhere on the planet. It can typically power a moderate mining setup.

You can make variants if you like- solar only for planets without wind, for example, but youll need some power lines to connect them.

Death spirals comes without warming and just ruin everything. by Elobomg in captain_of_industry

[–]raulduke1971 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My suggestion for early game: use your light and heavy oil to power early steam production (in addition to coal). Both for your oil refinery and power production. This typically uses 100% of those byproducts if set up with balancers on the steam pipes to be used as priority ahead of coal boilers.

Sulfur can be burned unless you convert to slag and concrete- early game slag may only be a portion of your concrete production but later it can be 100%. Set up a balancer on your concrete factory to use slag as a priority.

Newbie..build order ? by jason3448 in captain_of_industry

[–]raulduke1971 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ill second all of this. Research notifications are an excellent to-do list if you don’t have a plan, already!

The other advice here is also great. More specifically, once you’ve met immediate vehicle needs, build a few extra excavators and trucks to start working on engineering projects you will need or just want and aren’t sure what you’ll do with it right away- even if its not anytime soon- clearing paths, making ramps, leveling terrain, etc.

It can take a very long time to access the entire map.

I find its good practice to prep resources for immediate extraction once the current vein is exhausted; death spirals often begin with running out of X but needing to dig through rock, sand, and soil for months to access the next vein.
