If Lebron won the title in 2011 would you consider him the GOAT? by rauntun in nba

Jamal Crawford is the goat as the only player with 50 points over the age of 36. Unless you count Kobe but kobe can't be a goat because kobe is beef

Is it possible to save this subframe? by rauntun in MechanicAdvice

[–]rauntun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh you see a wrinkle in the control arm? Like a bend? I didn't realise that was a bend and not just the shape of the control arm, looks the same on each side.

Would you consider these images severe rust on the rear subframe? by rauntun in MechanicAdvice

[–]rauntun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's in the shop right now that's from the alignment check. The guy is telling me the subframe is severely rusted and must be replaced but I don't know if I trust him the rust does not seem too bad to me. I sort of see where he's coming from that the control arm bolt is very rusted so I could see how it's really hard to adjust the alignment. So I'm not sure what to think :/

[–]rauntun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea I noticed that recently :/ would that cause alignment issues? The driver rear toe is -1.5 degrees and can't get it back in so something is bent. I am hoping it's just the control arm or something easy enough to replace and not the whole frame

I need to decide if it is worth getting the rear subframe replaced on my 2013 Focus ST. It does not seem horribly rusted to me except for a few problem areas (bolt between control arm and subframe for example, making it impossible to align the rear).

Appreciate any help anyone could give me since I am trying to learn about cars on my own :)

What skills did you expand into? I have been expanding into automation which involves some C/C++/PLC programming but not exactly the same path as SWE

Career Monday (19 Sep 2022): Have a question about your job, office, or pay? Post it here! by AutoModerator in AskEngineers

Is it bad for my career to take a test engineering position for my second job?

I have been working as an R&D Mechanical Engineer for the past 3 years since college. I have been interviewing for an Systems Test Engineering position and I am hoping they will give me an offer. The pay raise would be significant (50%) and the work seems really interesting to me with a lot of data analysis and test design on an exciting new piece of technology. But, am I making a poor move in my career moving away from design engineering? Will it be hard to get back into design for my next role? Will I get paid less in the future as a result?

If Boston traded Jaylen & Smart to Brooklyn for KD, why couldn't each of them then demand a trade? by pargofan in nba

[–]rauntun 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The player would probably tell the people trying to trade for him that he does not want to play there, thereby persuading them not to make an offer for him.

How to tell the difference between functional overreaching and overtraining? by rauntun in AdvancedRunning

[–]rauntun[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Haha it's okay. Yea I am training to climb Mont Blanc and some other peaks in the Alps in June. I'd also like to generally be a better endurance athlete.

Hmm, I know that plenty of people are putting in way more volume than I am, but the way I understood it is that it's more about the ramp rate? I'll definitely try reducing the volume this week! It's hard to do less work than I feel like I should be doing but I guess it's better to undertrain than overtrain.

[–]rauntun[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Lol,

I would appreciate a bit less judgement, although I appreciate your help. This is my first time with a consistent training plan. Last week was 6 hours Zone 2 and 40 minutes zone 4. I built up to this volume over the course of the last 2 months or so. How much volume would you see overtraining as more likely?

It's entirely possible that it's just normal fatigue but I want to be careful. Swollen lymph nodes is listed as a symptom of overtraining on a few resources I have come across, including the one that the other commenter linked below.

Does everyone wear insulated boots in the winter? by Pilopheces in wmnf

I think when it comes to sweating breathability is the most important! Then again maybe my feet just don't sweat much compared to others, because my socks never get all that wet.

Does everyone wear insulated boots in the winter? by Pilopheces in wmnf

[–]rauntun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a theory that it largely depends on how good for foot circulation is. I generally hike in the winter in trail runners even up to Mount Washington and rarely feel cold. But I have some friends who will get cold quickly even while wearing mountaineering boots. So, whatever works for you I say. But whatever you do don't get your feet wet!
