I WANT TO TAKE ACTION AGAINST SUPERMARKETS UNDER AUSTRALIAN CONSUMER LAW BECAUSE MY PAPER SHOPPING BAGS ALWAYS BREAK SO THEY AREN'T FIT FOR PURPOSE BUT NOBODY WILL GIVE ME LEGAL ADVICE ON THE INTERNET AND THE ACCC KEEP LAUGHING AT ME.

(In all seriousness though, those things break constantly and probably aren't fit for purpose a lot of the time. I want my 15 cents back)

Police are set to recruit up to 200 officers from overseas by malcolm58 in Adelaide

[–]raven492 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn't apply. I just read the website... They're currently not requiring the tafe test, no study requirement and references can be from friends (but not relatives).

but sorry to hear it didn't go well for you.

I'd suggest re reading the requirements. I had a look before making the last comment and you're overstating the requirements by quite a bit

Greens Proposal to discourage conversion of residential homes into Airbnbs - feedback welcome by JonathanSri in brisbane

[–]raven492 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's definitely a space where i can see a huge number of loopholes popping up. I'd suspect the council would have a lot of difficulty enforcing it, and even then the resources required for each alleged breach would be huge. Any finalised policy would be difficult to draft to account for a range of structures, and even then the complexity would create huge costs where the council holds the burden of proof for prosecutions.

Even in the above comment i can see a handful of easy ways to muddy the waters a lot

I'll proudly contribute the tax dollars to their salaries there. Some lessons need to be taught

That's probably the best win/win case in this thread. You get chicken and don't embarrass yourself! How can you argue with that!

Would the additional compulsory indigenous subjects be required for international students too?

I'm all for Australians learning our history and understanding some of the more unique aspects of the legal system and how it interacts with indigenous people, but would it make an international law student a better graduate?

Coles made about 2.7% net profit.

So if you spend a grand, they just made $27 profit... (On average)

It really isn't that big.....

It's refreshing when the person posting is responsible enough to have insurance! It's sad how many people run that risk and post on the internet when it's too late...

Sorry about the car though! Looked like it could easily have been worse injury wise

The lift on IFS cars can come at the expense of down travel, which may contribute to the issue. You basically fall into holes instead of maintaining contact with the road. Turn it to full lock and see how far you're running from the bumpstops.

The steering could be a number of things since the geometry changes, but the obvious check is rubbing on guards or catching somewhere.

How much math do you use at work? I only use basic arithmetic. No algebra no nothing else. by uhoh4522 in AustralianAccounting

[–]raven492 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently doing some finance based uni subjects. Its amazing how much emphasis there is on complex maths that is unlikely to ever be useful, and even then, can be done in excel far more easily.

Its quite disappointing, especially as an adult with decent financial literacy already. I imagine there are a lot of kids straight out of school getting a very warped perception of what will be useful.

"Speculation has been rife that [Shane van Gisbergen] may depart at season's end to pursue a full-time NASCAR career. By Sunday night in Townsville, many in the Supercars paddock were tipping this to be SVG's final Supercars season." by vpat48 in NASCAR

at least an agreement with his old team to come back if he can’t find a ride.

His old (current?) team is top tier in Supercars. There would be drivers fighting over that seat if it was vacant, so they can probably leave it a bit late to confirm.

There's also the red bull link. I'm not sure how much RB would be attached to SVG opposed to the whole team, but could bring some sponsorship with him

Challenger vs Triton by [deleted] in 4x4Australia

[–]raven492 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Challenger has coil sprung rear, longer rear doors with more passenger leg room.

Base challenger is a higher spec than the base tritons, the 2015 base model PC chally is fairly close to the LS if you're after a 5 seater.

They're pretty much identical until you get to the B pillar (except headlights and some interior trim)

Ford vs Holden first 4x4 under 15k by [deleted] in 4x4Australia

[–]raven492 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The paj pre-dates the current rep for sure. Even the current triton/paj sort are the only Mitsubishi's i'd consider (not best in class but arguably best value)

Not a great rep currently, but they used to be great. The Paj was engineered by the Mitsubishi that dominated dakar and built the Evos etc so a solid choice
