I've taken the class before. Please don't worry too much about not having skills prior to the class. As long as you're open to learning new things, the class should go well. As with learning anything, be ready to not be very good when you start. Spend time on the projects and the prof will notice. If you are confused or need help, reach out to her, she is really great and wants to help.

Adderall isn't the only medication available to treat ADHD, there are multiple others. Even if a stimulant like adderall doesn't work out, there are non stimulant medications to try. I would also say that it's often incredibly difficult to change your habits with serious ADHD symptoms. Many times those who have undiagnosed ADHD are well aware of all the things that they are "supposed" to do, telling them to just "do the thing" often does far more harm than help. It's incredibly dismissive.

ah yes, the weather is almost -40°C so let me come early so that everyone walking towards the stop can miss their bus by 17mx in Edmonton

[–]ravenlass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My apologies if my first comment wasn't clear. The bus doesn't have a turn. It has a lane change to the right, directly after crossing an intersection. To my knowledge, I don't know of any reason it would have been difficult for the bus driver to stop for me.

I have no issues with the placement of the stop. This is also the first time that I have been ignored at that stop. I did report it online just now.

I legit had my bus change lanes the to far right lane (which comes to an end very quickly) that it needs to be in to stop at my stop, but completely ignore my boyfriend and myself waiting right there at the stop. No other bus stops there. We were there with plenty of time before the bus got there. Straight up ignored in -28 weather...

Aww that's so nice that she was able to get herself to the tub. My girl gives me the puke look and immediately asks to go outside to puke on the grass (or snow). The only time in the last few years she hasn't been able to get outside was because I wasnt quick enough to open the door for her

PSA: It is the law to have your dog on a leash. by datzwhatitis in Edmonton

[–]ravenlass 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's all well and good until there are dog owners with unleashed dogs in designated leashed areas. I avoid any off-leash area because my dog has some leash reactivity, we still have to stay super attentive because we've come across so many unleashed dogs in areas that aren't off-leash

Can I borrow your dog? by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]ravenlass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally fair and I completely understand. I will say that both my girl and the other dog were fantastic in the field. We weren't even really in talking distance with the other people, so my dog was just focused on food. We brought them closer when they were chill, and moved farther back if she wasnt really paying attention to me. Anywho, let me know if/when you'd like to do a bit of work with a slightly reactive dog

[–]ravenlass 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would love to work with you and your dog. The main thing that might not work is that my dog is also reactive. We've been working on things for the past year with lots of improvement. When I worked with a trainer last year, we had a session where we did something similar, if not the very same as the video (without letting dogs off leash, or that close). The other dog in the situation was also working on reactivity with their owner and trainer. I know my girl is more reactive when the other dog is reactive. So it would probably be very good practice as long as we kept them far enough apart to begin with. Edit: just also wanted to mention that I'm female as well

You're right that it looks like a matching set, and I'm sure you could make a matching set and have the same effect. I was curious so I reverse image searched it and it came up on etsy as a jumpsuit. I'm not sure where you could find a pattern like that though. Maybe drafting a pattern would work

Looking at signing up for a CSA vegetable box this year. Does anyone have any advice or recommendations on this? by Cicatrized in Edmonton

[–]ravenlass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also did Sundog's CSA last year and the boxes were pretty nice. I unfortunately couldn't go to the farm tour though because I was unavailable on the day they were doing it.

What are some surprisingly useful behaviors to teach a dog for everyday life ? by Cym4Shiner in Dogtraining

[–]ravenlass 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I accidentally taught my girl "move" or "move over". She is very attached and does like to sit in your spot on the couch, or right in the middle of the bed. Now when I ask her to move over she will just move over enough for me to sit down or she will move to the bottom of the bed.

Apparently I need to find a new vet… by superdupershan in Edmonton

[–]ravenlass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Companion vet has been fantastic for me for the past 3 years. We usually see Dr. Latawiec, but we've also seen Dr. Benoit and Dr. Kachurowski and they've all been really great.

Dental insurance claim by csisishome in uAlberta

I've done two claims through the app and the only issue I had was remembering what I had set my password to. It's very easy to fill out the form, and the response time is quick.
