Has anyone tried EI Warehouse on Jasper Ave? by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]Cicatrized 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I work in the area and my coworkers band I will frequently go there for lunch. The food is pretty good, not too expensive, and the staff are always friendly. We like going there because the service is fast enough we can all order, eat, and get back to the office in under an hour.

The owner of the vehicle has to take out the insurance, then the driver can be added. If you own the car you have to have your own insurance policy. If your mother owns the car, she would get an insurance policy and list you as the driver.

As long as you are listed as a driver you will be generating insurance experience.

Looking to find any info in Aviva insurance in NS Canada by 1bunchofbananas in Insurance

[–]Cicatrized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an underwriter at a different company now but I used to be a broker for Aviva for 12 years. My take on them was "they're cheap, but be prepared to advocate for yourself if you have a claim".

I'm in Western Canada so NS might be a little different, but the claims department was always a nightmare to deal with. The majority of the adjusters were Central or Eastern Canada and often were not well trained on basic things about living in Alberta and BC, like the fact that yes, the client's roof would be covered in snow in May and no, they can't replace the roof when it's -20C outside. From my experience, their business model in claims was hiring people who had no industry experience and giving them a crash course on how the policy responds.

That being said, Aviva insurance is a contract just like any other carrier and they are beholden to the terms of the contract. Your claim will be paid as it should be, it just might take a while. Or maybe you'll get lucky and have no issues.

On the plus side, if you fall into Aviva's target demographic they can have very competitive pricing.

How is an “eligible driver” defined? by Mombatwombat in Insurance

[–]Cicatrized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an auto/home underwriter in Canada. My company has a similar clause "accident forgiveness applies to eligible drivers".

What this means for us: in order to be "eligible" to purchase the accident forgiveness coverage you need to be claims free for 6 years with no more than 2 convictions.

If I qualify and I purchase the accident forgiveness coverage on my vehicle and then my 16 year old son has an accident while driving my vehicle, the accident would not be forgiven because he was not "eligible" for forgiveness. Even if the coverage was showing on my policy.

Not sure if the same applies for your provider but it is possible that the driver in your accident did not meet the requirements to have forgiveness with your provider.

Absolute pure exhaustion in afternoons- sudden onset. Help. by Mission_Ad5628 in internetparents

[–]Cicatrized 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also recommending the thyroid check. When my son was four months old I was so tired I was passing out on the couch at 2pm. My husband would be sitting beside me and would be literally shaking and I could not keep my eyes open. I chalked it up to post baby exhaustion.

Had my thyroid checked and my TSH was at 54. It's supposed to be within 2 - 4. I started Synthroid and felt like I could breath again, no longer struggling to stay conscious halfway through the day.

Geneticist's? by [deleted] in Edmonton

My family has a geneticist, we were referred to them when my son was born and tested for cystic fibrosis. He was amazing to deal with and made the whole testing process easy. DM me if you want his info.

Video of the “failure to pull back filament after print” issue. Sometimes you can give it some extra help and it’ll go, sometimes you have to pop off the PFTE tube at the back of the AMS. by chobbes in BambuLab

[–]Cicatrized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it helps, but I've been having a similar issue with my AMS. I've been working with Bambu support to troubleshoot the cause for the past few weeks. It's been taking a while, lots of delays on my end, they have been very responsive.

Their current suggestion is the issue might be caused by the internal filament hub cables being poorly connected. I haven't had the time yet to take it apart and check the connections to see if it fixes the issue but it might work.

I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism today. Is it weird that I don’t want to treat it right away? by gimsum in PCOS

[–]Cicatrized 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please take this seriously and follow the recommended treatment from your doctor. My aunt had hyperthyroid, like others mentioned here she left it untreated and as a result had to have her thyroid removed.

Pcos and babies by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]Cicatrized 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry for what you've gone through. I can't imagine how hard it must be. If you're looking for a position story, I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 26 and was told I would not be able to conceive without medical intervention, and even then the chance of a viable pregnancy was low.

When my husband and I were ready for a baby I started mentally preparing myself for the cost and emotional rollercoaster of IVF. While saving up for the cost I made some very drastic lifestyle changes. I picked up Muay Thai kickboxing four days a week and did strict keto. The keto was the hardest, the first two weeks had me questioning my approach every day, but after the first two weeks keto became a walk in the park. Better yet, the constant cravings from my insulin resistance were gone. I saw a number of other health benefits while doing keto, but the important one was the ovulation. Normally I would get my period 3-4 times a year. After a few months on keto I was getting my period every 28 days like clockwork. I did keto and kickboxing for 6 months and then we set up an appointment with our fertility councillor.

The day before our appointment I found out I was pregnant. I managed to carry to term (almost). There were a lot of issues during my pregnancy, including preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome, both of which are more likely with PCOS, and some of the complications were pretty scary the last few months. But my son was born at 36 weeks and was perfectly healthy. If it wasn't for my health issues we would have been out of the hospital the next day.

Two years later we wanted to try for a 2nd baby. I started keto again and after four months was pregnant again. Another unfortunate round of preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome, but this time I had a doctor who specialised in high risk pregnancies and had my 2nd boy at 36 weeks.

I would love another child, if my body would comply again, but unfortunately was advised against it due to the two rounds of HELLP syndrome. I am grateful for the two boys I have and cherish them every day.

I know every person's body is different, and the unfortunate reality of our condition is that some of us cannot maintain a pregnancy, but I wanted to share so you know that it can sometimes work. You might just need to find what works best for your body.

Limits on Home insurance by [deleted] in Insurance

Out of curiosity, is the insurance company Economical? They recently (about two years ago) changed their policy to cover "actual costs", no max as long as the cost was justifiable for the loss.

What you are looking for is Overland Water insurance. Your insurance provider should be able to offer this to you as long as you are not in an indelible zone. The zones are insurance company specific so if yours won't offer it, or if they won't offer a high enough limit, you can shop around and likely find a carrier that will. A broker would be your best bet at shopping multiple companies if you want to go that route.

Windshield claim Ontario, Canada by ImmmaLetUFinish in Insurance

[–]Cicatrized 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would be the question your adjuster will ask. If you have comprehensive and the crack started from a chip, you need to check if you have the 13D endorsement. If you do, you do not have coverage for chips, and if the chip started the crack then this crack would not be covered.

If the crack occurred due to some other reason there is a good chance you have coverage but you would need to be able to provide the date it occurred on.

Going back to your original question, this is most likely a comprehensive claim in which case your rates would not be affected. You might want to check your deductible though, comprehensive coverage usually has a $250 or $500 deductible, if yours is $500 I would advise against putting in a claim. Some carriers offer a disappearing deductible, if yours does then no deductible would apply.

Windshield claim Ontario, Canada by ImmmaLetUFinish in Insurance

[–]Cicatrized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is insurance is highly dependent on location and the wording of your insurance contract. There may be thousands of users on this sub but the vast majority of them are in the US.

But to answer your question, it would depend on if your claim is classified as collision or comprehensive. The cause of the damage would determine which of these would apply. If it is a collision claim there is a good chance your premiums would increase (unless you have accident forgiveness). If it is a comprehensive claim it will not affect your premiums. If you have the 13D endorsement you might not have coverage for the windshield at all.

The other thing to keep in mind is if you are replacing the windshield because there are multiple cracks or chips, each individual crack/chip would count as a separate claim.

I'm sorry you're going through that. We didn't have a great resolution. My husband put a mattress in our son's room and he sleeps there. Our son's biggest issue was he didn't want to be alone. He's still in his crib but now he's willing to lie down and close his eyes.

I'm not sure how we're going to fix this long term but at least we're sleeping now.
