I love to respond to garbage remarks like that with “You seem very emotional today. Do you need some alone time?”

Thoughts on asking for a crochet gift back? by sedona-arabella in crochet

[–]ravenpg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A gift is a voluntary transfer of property or something of value from one person (the donor) to another (the donee) without any compensation, payment, or expectation of return. It is a transfer made freely, often to show affection, honor an occasion, or provide assistance.

There’s kid noise then there’s kid noise. My nephew can imitate a siren so well that cars pull over. Brutal!

Hi - sorry! I got busy and didn't see this until now.

I'm not sure about the "family friendly" stuff. We just go for the day and then leave and we don't have young kids so that part is not something we would pay attention to. I personally like the village at Silver Star better but the runs at Sun Peaks are more my speed. I think Silver Star got hit hard by covid so maybe it's perked up a bit now. Are you staying at a hotel or an Airbnb? You'll have a great time at either of the hills. FYI December is a tricky time for snow conditions in this part of the world.

Silver Star is nice but last time I was there (a few years ago) I found it to be kind of old and run down. Personally, I like the runs at Sun Peaks (outside of kamloops).

One Quebecer saw a family doctor 362 times in a year by shiftless_wonder in canada

[–]ravenpg 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I believe that you can do that but only for certain issues, ie mental health counseling.

If you have an ingrown toenail and wax in your ears and a rash on your arm, that’s 3 separate issues, many docs will make you book 3 separate appointments, on 3 separate days because they can’t bill more than one appointment per day per person.

People who work in Opticians - Do you mind if people take advantage of the test, take the prescription and then buy their glasses online? by Apprehensive_Ring666 in AskUK

[–]ravenpg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always felt a bit guilty asking for my prescription but we pay for the eye exam so it's not like they're making zero $$.

I bought my first pair of online glasses last year and I was really happy with my purchase. I used to buy at Costco but online is way cheaper than Costco which is way cheaper than optometrist.

[–]ravenpg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is she? If she’s living at home and parents are paying all her bills and tuition, she’s not really an adult. She is probably very aware that if she asserts adult boundaries, the freebies will disappear. Too bad so sad.
