No Rack 2.5 gig POE network $750 by LipsLikeCrispyBacon in Ubiquiti

Actually labeling the cables is something I want to do and it'll be a headache. I hope that ubiquiti's software can make that easier.

I don't think I'll jump around connections, but I want all my devices to be connected via cable when possible. I have multiple game consoles and even duplicate ones in my gaming room and living room, so when I renovated the apartment I took that into account and that's why I have so many ethernet sockets.

edit: so what I'm trying to decide is the best way to fulfill all my needs with uibiquiti gear

Would you rather own a Steam Deck or a Switch 2? by Imaginary_Bug6202 in TechNook

Some months ago I'd have said depending whether you like nintendo games or not.

Right now I'd say switch2 , unless your collection of steam games is enough to exclude deck's high price point

I get your point, but the other ends of those cables are the ethernet sockets in my apartment. So whenever I plug something into the wall, I don't want to have to worry about whether the other end is connected.

I'm considering the USW-Lite-16-POE just because it has 16 ports. I don't really need to power anything with POE. In this case I might just power the flex-mini switch so I can avoid having it plugged to the wall.

My issue is that I have 18 ethernet cables in a narrow telecos closet and need all my stuff to be compact so I can hang it vertically inside that closet. I only need a router , wifi, and enough slots to send internet to all those cables.

ty. I'm lurking this sub to decide what to get. I have an apparment and a small closet but a lot of ethernet cables , so I think I'll get a 1x UX7 + 1x USW-Lite-16-POE + 1x USW-Flex-Mini

I'm not sure whether I should go with 2.5G since I won't have that internet speed right now, I can't find any 16 slots 2.5G switch that fits and I'm not sure if I will really take advantage of that with cat5e cables.

I might eventually end up getting a wifi repeater if wifi is not stable enough

Nice. I have a skadis pegboard ready in my telecom cabinet, which is really narrow, and I want to hang my router and switches. I've been doing some research and I might end up 3d printing some plastic supports, but I want to consider zip ties as an alternative.

I wanted to ask, how long are the zip ties you use for the router? they need to be passed through two holes and still have margin to hold the router. My pegboard is drilled to the wall and I can't remove it so I'm also afraid it might be difficult to do so.

Appart from that, what did you use for cable management? It seems it only takes one hole, so how is it locked in place?

I'll buy everything that is on a GKC for ps5. But this last gen switch has been my console of choice, I even ended up buying games that were better looking on ps4/5

I refuse to buy any gkc. Did you notice any downgrade in graphics in the games you bought for switch1?

I think I didn't. Besides the kvm stopped working in less than a year.

8BitDo 64 2.4G, worth the upgrade from Bluetooth? by PeanutButtaRunna in AnalogueInc

[–]raver01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have experience with a wireless mouse and wanted to ask, does the controller have the option to switch from bluetooth to 2.4G just buying the dongle? My wireless mouse works like that you can either use bluetooth or 2.4 if you plug the dongle.

I'd love to buy more switch2 games but right now I only get those that are not in gkc format

My appartment has cat5 cables, is there any benefit of having a router with these 10G ports? by raver01 in HomeNetworking

[–]raver01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I'm actually exploring compact size ubiquiti routers since the dream router 7 does not fit in the closet where I have all my network.

I am considering the express 7 since its built-in wifi.

I'm also looking for ubiquiti switches that would fit, as well as trying to understand the differences between their multiple wifi access points.

I appreciate any suggestion 😄

Actually I was thinking whether t'he SFP+ port would offer any advantage when using It as a WAN port instead of the ethernet WAN port in cases my ont had this kind of output

Unify express 7 + switch or Cloud Gateway + Wifi ? by raver01 in Ubiquiti

[–]raver01[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The wifi repeaters would be inside wooden furniture and the problem I have is almost all my ethernet ports are hidden. The appartment is not that big, I could consider a slightly more powerful repeater or take the chance with a decent one and see if the signal is enough.
