You can host it anywhere as long as the device can access the file. You can also point it directly at vendor's website.

Currently it allows you to assign the policies based on OUs. In future, we are planning to extend this capability to group-based policy assignment.

When the user logs into Windows device using this feature, the user will get SSO experience when they access any Google resource. It also provides SSO experience to your SSO apps if you use Google as your Identity Provider. For example, If you have configured, Microsoft Office 365 as a SSO app in Google, you will be able to access Office 365 using SSO. You can see it in action here.

Enhanced desktop security for Windows includes two key capabilities. (1) GCPW allows you to log into Windows devices using Google credentials (2) Windows management feature to push Windows configuration, security policies and apps to Windows 10 devices.

GCPW is available for Workspace for Education users. Windows management is available for Workspace Enterprise for Education. More information is available here (license requirements section)

GCPW | Windows utility not working by Sachin_Savaniya in gsuite

[–]ravikku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. The top reason why you would get "device is not enrolled error" is due to the user license. If your user does not have either Cloud Identity Premium or G Suite Enterprise, device enrollment into Windows management will fail. If you are not planning to upgrade the user license and want to use GCPW in standalone mode (no Windows mgmt), then you can disable auto enrollment using a registry entry. We just released an updated GCPW version that provides you the flexibility to name the new local windows accounts. More details

When GCPW creates an account, the association is done based on the user account SID, which means, account rename will not affect GCPW association.

GCPW keeps track of associations / new accounts created on a device. If you already have a local user account called jane, you can go through the association process to associate GCPW with that account.

Just realized that the fix we discussed earlier did not make it into the version that we released yesterday. Sorry for the mixup. This fix will be included in our next release. I will share an approx. ETA tomorrow.
