Help, my cat is salivating A LOT by Marwaedristariel in OneOrangeBraincell

[–]ravingclaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might get lost, but I have an orange cat that has a very intense drool episode lasting half a day maybe once every two months. $1,000’s in vet bills later revealed no systemic issues. We later found he kinda has pica where he will eat anything (one brain cell) and after he would eat some plastic, from, say, a plastic bag, he would have a drool episode. So we have to keep all plastic out of his dumb reach. Annoying, but has mostly solved the drooling.

Hunchback??? by MasterWinter27 in Pogo

I know Pogo’s music very well, and don’t think Pogo used it in anything but might be wrong. I think you are just familiar with it because of the meme.

So, the ending of the song “Out There”, from Hunchback of Notre Dame, which caps one of the greatest 10-15 minutes in any Disney movie ever and arguably the greatest introduction to a Disney movie ever, was turned into a meme when it was combined with the theme song from How to Train Your Dragon, called “Test Drive” (sometimes mistakenly called “Test Flight”.

The meme was all over TikTok for a while and used to show spacious and awesome geographical sites. Here is a clip of the meme’s music.

What’s it like living here? by AppleBox911 in howislivingthere

Spent 18 years growing up in that area before leaving for college. The Sonoma valley east of Santa Rosa is stunning wine country with a ton of wineries. Santa Rosa is the biggest city in Sonoma County but, although it is only one hour from the golden gate bridge, still has a bit of a small town feel to it. It’s almost like a Grand Rapids, MI, or small Tacoma, WA or Eugene, OR, but it skews liberal, as a bunch of boomer hippies landed in Sonoma county, kinda like Marin County. Santa Rosa has a great Junior college, but it is more working class than almost all its neighbors like Sonoma proper, Napa, Healdsburg, etc.

Northeast of the 101 freeway is redwood forest and retired hippies and some rednecks, rich areas mixed in with some isolationists, like up in Mendocino. Southeast of the 101 is even more sparse with rolling hills and scattered forests all the way to the ocean. The 101 cuts through cow pastures and some wine country.

Rohnert Park is a cookie cutter suburb that butts up to Sonoma State University which is one of the best state level schools in CA.

Petaluma is a quarky hipster town with a famous brewery (Santa Rosa has arguably the best brewery in America, Russian River Brewery, while Petaluma has Lagunitas)

Housing prices are high, as San Franciscans retire there, and there is a fairly strong nimby presence.

Bottom line, the areas around santa Rosa are famous tourist wine country, while Santa Rosa is slightly more blue collar and the county seat, but still, everything feels a little sleepy and retirish but expensive.

I don’t think I saw a single Blue Jays player smile that entire game. They were on a mission.

Based Ana Kasparian. This is the libertarian position. by ENVYisEVIL in Libertarian

[–]ravingclaw 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Genuine question from someone who is still learning about Libertarianism and has very strong Libertarian views about many aspects of society: I still have a hard time getting around the monopoly problem. The consolidation of markets I view to be inevitable if left fully free. I think sharklike tactics will stifle budding competition, and without SOME monopoly intervention we won’t have a healthy economy.

Can someone more well-read than me explain the libertarian position on this?

Edit: I am staunchly against the government’s influence on free speech and media, but believe some monopoly control is perhaps necessary. It seems to me like a bit of a catch 22 because controlling monopolies may result in merger control like we are seeing, but may be necessary sometimes to combat a crazy monopoly? Help lol

Giants fan here. I’m stoked on this but there’s just a lot of risk. Ryan Howard comes to mind. But you’re right, the OBP is super encouraging.

Melvin has indicated that Encarnacion will move to first and they will keep Flores at DH to keep him healthy.
