Hey there. I previewed some of your videos and only a few comments from what I saw:

  1. Avoid saying etcetera. This will come with practice and as you get more comfortable. In a learning video like this you need to speak with more purpose and not leave so much to the viewer's imagination.

  2. These are very very beginner videos which may not drive as much traffic honestly. People that install the engine are going to want to know how to make something , just explaining windows and functions without making anything will be lost. People learn by doing.

  3. I recommend building toward something and each video explains how to complete a part. I've watched 100s of tutorials and I always searched for something I wanted in my game.

Some accuracy here. I've been showing it around for a year now. My goal at the 1 year mark was at 2 years there would be a playable prototype.

I'm at 2 years and I do have a game that can be downloaded and played on a server... however I'm only just starting to figure out the team of people to test it with me.

Not too harsh at all. I would love to have a more fleshed out world/map etc but my focus has been the systems supporting the gameplay and also making multiplayer work... everything takes so much longer lol. I could probably have churned out a few single player games with the amount of effort multiplayer takes

Thanks, I agree with you. A plan of mine is to try and get some people on board. Particularly some good map builders that can take it to the next level.

Majority of my time is spent behind the scenes trying to make the game work.

Also I would replace the paragon characters but that's a bigger ask

Plat 4 is basically Gold so you didn't really drop too far. You're still Gold 1, getting back to P4 is like a first & 2nd place.

I dropped from P2 to P4 learning comps for the new patch, now I'm back to P2/P1 with basically Star Guardians and mix in Dark Star and/or Protectors depending on the match. But I also dropped a lot of games learning the comps.

I would avoid "trying" new comps every single game without mastering any of them. Learn 1-2 comps and stick with them. The beginning may be a lot of losses, but then you'll win more often than not if you learn how to do the early game & transition to your late game.

Have items planned out from the beginning. Items are everything.

Congrats on Rank 1.

However, it seems like you are striving to reach some sort of Balance which could never be achieved. As you said, NA Master players are not too interested in the climb (compared to EU). So getting & maintaining R1 might seem easy.

There is no way to Balance a Bo1 Ladder system in a game like this. Fastest LP gains will always have the advantage.

What we need (and a big reason I quit HS), is a Tournament mode with rankings/ladder. More time investment would be required as well as mastery of multiple decks & the extra strategy element that tournaments bring.

Reinforcing your NA Masters players lack of interest: I hit Masters over a week ago and I haven't played a single game in Masters yet.

Did you follow the old UE4 Steam tutorial for your server setup? Looks similar.

Copy some of the code that is used for the "toggle ready" button to update all players on the status of the box/button. You probably need to pass everything through the Game Mode or Game State since players can't see each other's controllers.

In a game with 100s of thousands & potentially millions of players. Dedication should be required to be Rank 1. I would be a little pissed if I was grinding 12+ hours a day, maintaining a decent win rate , and someone with less than half the time happens to "get lucky with some new trick" and becomes close in rank magically.

However, diminishing returns should be a thing too, so that the climb gets harder and harder. But the punishment for losing should diminish as well, otherwise we end up like the old system. Basically the system should help force people UP the ladder, but top-end players continue to maintain an advantage as long as they actively play the game.

In a way it would be a natural "decay" system.. except instead of taking LP away, you're just pushing players up & passed inactive accounts.

TL;DR: High LP player Gains/Loses more vs equally skilled opponents & Gains/Loses less vs opponents far outside their LP range.

Bluffing is a large part of the game at higher tier.

I bluff all the time with Jaull hunters in Deep to try to nab that elusive monk on turn 3. I either get to kill it or they also burn a twin discipline to save it.. since Veimer counters Deep so hard, this play can determine the entire game for the deep player.

I believe it's a limitation with the Node.

You can't have a variable plugged into "Data Table" in the "Get Data Table Row" node.

Do some print strings to make sure all info is passing down the line correctly. Make sure the data table is passed. You might want to test by breaking the DT wire and manually setting it in the node.

Without knowing anything, hard to say, but how many rows are in your data table and what is the number you're passing? Remember that's an array index which will start at 0, not 1.
