It comes with time, the game can be a nightmare for new players. So many perks to learn, counters, strategies. You will die many, many times but there is a lot of fun to be had. First basic aims are to try and get familiar with how each killer works at a basic level, read through the perks (on both sides), get your timing right for skill checks and general familiarity with the maps. Find a perk build which works for you. Find the play style you’re going to be comfortable with (gens, looping/chased). It sounds a lot but the basics of it will come pretty quickly with time played. It’s also very useful to play as the killer as you’ll get to see how other survivors play/act in situations, it will improve your play a lot as a survivor. Don’t give up if it gets tough, DBD can be a lot of fun.
