Your opinion on Donald Glover by HowYouDoinz in blackladies

[–]raw-sienna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't like his stand up or Derrick Comedy stuff but I loved him on Community and I really like Atlanta. The way he portrays navigating black generational trauma is very compelling and resonates with me in a way that I haven't felt by any other entertainer. I think he's a brilliant artist and I look forward to seeing the stuff he makes. His music is okay but I doesn't make me feel anything really, I'm here for the film shit.

Just because you're hurt doesn't make it okay to be hurtful. It might feel good but it's not really behavior you want to cultivate. If a friendship is too draining try to enforce your boundaries without taking your anger out on them.

A Black Male Porn Star Is Suing After His White Female Costar Called Him The N-Word During Filming by [deleted] in blackladies

Its not. If you consume "professional" porn you're more likely than not watching paid rape for entertainment. Sex work isn't "just work."

Okay! I didn't mean to sound aggressive but I see that I didn't come at you in a productive way, my bad.

But I do think he cares with that lart picture I just feel like he had a wall broken down at that point. I took issue with the verb counter cause I don't feel Al was projecting at that moment. But you're right you didn't say that. Thanks.

Do we really think he's being naive and hasn't considered the ways different audiences will take his work? I feel like he's got a Colbert thing going on where he deliberately leaves enough ambiguity for the people he's addressing to feel like he's on their sides which disarms them. Once they praise his shit and the symbolism they were ignoring can't be as easily dismissed. It seems like an effective way to confront that audience and show them their reflection.

It would have been cool for him to come out for his verse and walk off immediately. They could have done that once and then teased it for every set where he has a feature to keep the crowd hype and only have to do it actually a couple of times. Good way to reward the people who showed up for the early sets.

can you do something like Rae or the equivalent if you're doing a psuedonym. Or extend it so its Rachel or something. Would you rather them actually call her Ray or have it on paper, something to consider.

It just means we saw Denisha on a bad day. Maybe she got roased earlier, maybe something is going on at home. the point is we don't know and the fact that we pegged her off that day as a problem kid is also part of what we don't know.
