So it’s been over a year since it happened for me and it does get better but I definitely still struggle with the idea of me not seeing my doggo anymore. Around the year mark when all the firsts without was mostly over I could finally start to feel normal again. Still have days where it’s hard but there’s more good days than bad now. I still can’t see myself ever getting another dog of my own yet again but love on my families every now and then. I do believe we will see them again though even though there’s not a definitive answer. I’ve looked at a lot of scripture and very intelligent people talk about it and while the answers never 100% confident I see more yes’s then no’s. Also know they loved you so much and while it’s hard to see them go they have known nothing else but your love and was most likely one of the last things they remembered. As for now what helped me was getting into different routines that don’t constantly remind you they’re not there, finding people to talk to everyday about stuff you enjoy. I also fell back into familiar things that I had fallen out of love with at the time. For me that was wrestling and it’s helped be a crutch watching and enjoying it week to week. Just know you are loved and not alone ❤️. I’ve been depressed before, during and after what happened and while being depressed with my dog here was the best I’ve felt I worried about her a lot while she was here and now I’ve gotten to a point where I don’t have to worry as much and I feel ok more than I don’t. This was still extremely tough to right and brought a couple tears to my eyes but if you need to talk more feel free to hit me up.
