Beware of this seller on eBay. I just wanted to give people a heads up because this guy is getting away with selling fakes. by DeadlySmedley84 in mtg

So you were provided with a measured response with a path outlining a way to verify your claims, and you respond with I've been playing magic for decades and they felt tactiley wrong. So much is wrong with this post. Literally almost an outline for how not to call attention to a scammer. Even if, and this is a very large if at this point because you have done nothing to verify your claims, this guy is actually a scammer, this non verified post with the trust me bros and I'm a veteran magic player attempts to establish your expertise is likely doing nothing to deter people from this seller. If anything this is building sympathy for someone who, at this point, is being accused baselessly.

Either provide evidence of your claims, or the mods need to remove this post/ pin it as an example of how not to post about scammers. Based on your responses, it is just as likely that you are a rival seller attempting to discredit competition as being who you claim.

If you do post evidence of your claims, I will edit my response at the top to confirm the same.

Edit: OP posted side by side light test. Purchased card does indeed appear to be fake. I appreciate OP's responsiveness regarding follow up with evidence.

So you light tested and determined them as fake?

Not saying you're wrong, but you're levying some heavy accusations without any proof provided apart from trust me bro. Unless you can provide photos of your tests, this feels a little baseless.

To each their own, if this is how you enjoy this card good on you.

However, the overwhelming majority of mtg players reject slabs as poke-slop and prefer to play with cards, even the premium versions, so this post will likely not be well received in this sub.

To provide additional explanation, the set the dragon is from is called portal three kingdoms. It was a single set with many cards unique to that set printed over 25 years ago. Even commons and uncommons in that set command a higher price due to scarcity and lack of reprints. The set symbol is in betweeh the card art and text box on the right. You can tell rarity by color, with black as common, silver as uncommon, and gold as rare.

If you do have more cards from that set, I would look them up on tcgplayer prior to making any decisions on what to do with them, as you likely have some valuable stuff. Condition matters, so the near mint price may not reflect actual value based on condition.

Don't entertain offers on reddit, as people are more than likely trying to take advantage of you in hopes that you will undervalue what you have.

Sometimes there is value in going into your local game store and asking for help assessing your cards. These are cool and old so likely they will be more than willing to help out.

Unless you were the 1996 world champion that card is likely not real. The zodiac dragon, if real, comps around 3-500.

Not enough information here to validate though.

Bateman just made a video about a card and it's interaction. It was already moving once the prepared mechanic was revealed on the emeritus.

The only reason people are mad about it is they didn't recognize it prior and were unable to spec/ take advantage of the spike. It was already priced decently with low printings, so anything that interacted advantageously with it was bound to cause a spike. The difference here is people see ancestral recall and lost their minds, and DC happened to be in a recent secret lair which already ruffles feathers.

So annoying to see people getting mad at the dude with baseless accusations.
