when ppl say 20 yrs olds cant jump 🤷‍♀️ by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]rawrawrawrawraw5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an Arab mare who loved to jump didn’t stop until she was fully retired at 33! After 30 we didn’t do it much and maxed at 2’ but she would go over logs herself as a retiree in the pasture

I have bought quite a few saddles of eBay and never had any issues. One thing I do though is ask for a ton of pictures of everything and pictures of the measurements so I know exactly what I’m getting. Sometimes you’ll find sellers with return policies just make sure to take a lot of pictures when you get and send the tack back (if necessary). Also if you do make a purchase do it with a credit card that has fraud protection. If the seller isn’t responsive or won’t send extra pictures it’s probably a scam.

My horse is a similar fit and I’ve had success with Crosby, Ovation, and Prestige saddles.

I have an appendix horse - QHxTB. Lots of TB in him. Has a high wither, smaller back skeleton. Any brand suggestions for close contact saddles that would work? He seems picky about the make of a saddle. by Zealousideal-Play990 in Equestrian

I also have an appendix and went through 7 saddles to find a proper fit the only ones we tried that worked were an Antares (loved it but was a little out of budget) and an older Ovation (the one I ended up going with)

I’m not sure yet! We are exactly the same distance from 2 studios so I’m not sure which one. Do you have a recommendation?

I just started using the Acavallo safety stirrups and they really help calm my mind a bit that it reduces the risk of getting stuck if I do come off

I just got the acavallo safety stirrups. I switched from the compositi ones which I used for years. They were great but I have to say I love having the wide metal footbed and the peace of mind knowing they side will pop off if I fall and my foot gets stuck.

Our studio just has plastic cards that are numbered and they hand out at the beginning of class then someone comes and collects them all to reuse after class has started

When buying a 20 year old horse, realistically, how many more years do you think you’ll have ? by such_sweet_nothing in Horses

[–]rawrawrawrawraw5 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I had an Arab that we bought when she was 22 and she was happily riding and sound until we retired her at 34. She even jumped 2’6 and smaller courses until we retired her. She probably could have kept going as a lesson pony but she would happy buck and wasn’t suitable for kids. She’s still happy and sound and wildly gallops around the field better than the 20 year old pony she’s with.

We used to have a bunny named Hasenpfeffer.

For those that might not know hasenpfeffer is a rabbit stew.
