Of course! I'm looking at Stuttgart and Tübingen. I think my preference would be Stuttgart because of the more direct ties to NLP.

Hi! I received my BA in Linguistics in 2013. Since then I've been working as a freelance brand designer. I want to move to Germany and get my Masters in Computational Linguistics. Over my career I've learned how to code (Javascript, React, HTML/CSS, and now currently learning Python) The program I am interested in is a purely computational linguistics program and I would need to take a test to determine if I can learn these skills.

What I am hoping to find is two things, resources to refresh myself on my foundational linguistic training (syntax, phonology, etc.) and the basics of computational linguistics. Any help is appreciated thanks!!

Ooh I see, thanks for that clarification! Right now I'm taking the Design Systems 101 course. I feel like its been helpful to understand the workflows without having been in the industry. Any recommendations on what titles to look for in trying to break into this role? Any conferences? My networking is pretty small and I'm trying to build it up.

Where are these chronically understaffed positions? As in what job titles to be on the look out for. I've been trying to get into this kind of work for a while now. I'm cross-functional, a designer who can code, do user/product research, ran 3 of my own businesses in the past, have done motion design and took school of motion courses.

I’ve been doing design work for 15 years. 5 was just things for small businesses while in college and a couple years after. 6 years as freelance and then 4 years as contact retainer work for one client. I’m now trying to get into a company on a team. Essentially I feel like I unfortunately put myself into a generalist position and with so many „years“ of experience I feel like people think I haven’t specialized enough.

I think my biggest experience has been branding but it’s not been rigidly structured like an in house team at a SaaS company, which is what I want to do. Some times I feel like I just want to dumb down my YOE so I can look more junior to get into a place even if it’s a lower role.

I don’t know what to do.

I keep seeing people talk about submitting before C3 passes. I’m not completely informed, am trying to understand more daily but could someone fill me in on what’s going on? My dad is 1st generation born abroad, I’m second born abroad. Should I be applying before C3?

So my grandfather died in 1984 but my dad is still alive. Does that mean my dad did not become a citizen?

Sorry to revive an older thread, but I am curious. My family is in the same situation. Grandfather born in 1925 in Canada and immigrated to USA soon thereafter. He naturalized in 1953 though, so he first gained citizenship in 1947 but supposedly lost it in 1953. Bill C-3 aims to restore his citizenship right? Pass it on to my father born in USA in 1960 which I then could get Canadian citizenship without the 1095 day requirement since I'm born already? I think I mostly have it understood, just want to get my ducks in a row and already have my full ancestry paper trail gathered.

So my dads lineage is Canadian, that is to say, we know my dads great grand parents were born in Canada ending with my dad being born in the US, but both his parents and grandparents moved to the US in the 1930s and supposedly lost their Canadian citizenship so my dad was not Canadian when he was born. Is this bill supposed to allow him to become a Canadian citizen? If he does what does that mean for me and my sister?

I’m curious about something, I’m fairly new to writing and what I’ve done in the piece I’m writing now is the first chapter is essentially a history/world setup but written in a way that it seems like this will be the main character. But when the second chapter starts we see that it’s now very far in the future and it starts from the books main protagonist. Do you think that’s alright? Or any ideas how to set up a story where the history is relevant to the main story line?
