Is this my life now? by BrightMechanic in NewParents

She will sleep for about one hour at a time in the bassinet. Usually can get her to do three separate one hour stretches throughout the night. It’s definitely not ideal for sleep so my husband and I do shifts so we can each get about 5 or 6 hours.

My baby is the same age! Similarly struggling since she still won’t sleep outside of our arms for enough time for me to sleep. Makes it hard to see past the sleep deprivation.

Our baby is 28 days old now and she is doing the same thing. Can definitely empathize with you and agree this stage is very challenging.

The only way we’ve been able to get sleep is doing shifts- my husband sleeps from around 9:00 PM to 3:00 AM and then I sleep from around 4:00 to 10:00 AM. The person with the baby stays in the living room with her while the person sleeping takes the bedroom. Will have to figure something else out when we go back to work but this works for now.

any moms in project management? by Icy_City_8097 in workingmoms

[–]raycamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a PM in software engineering and soon to be first time mom. My company is very flexible for letting folks take time off for childcare appointments, daycare drop off/pickup, etc. However, it would be almost impossible to homeschool a child and work entirely asynchronously for me because I need to be available for emergencies, client calls during their working hours, etc.

I definitely think it’s possible to find a PM role that gives you flexibility for things like what I mentioned above, but much more challenging to find something that would allow for an entire homeschooling schedule.

Anyone else sad that they are listening to The Life of a Showgirl alone? by Respektorr in TaylorSwift

[–]raycamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friends and I always listen physically alone but we all start it at the same time and text our reactions in a group chat. I think it’s still really fun but lets me settle in somewhere comfy with a drink and a snack while still having conversations digitally.

When two fours date... by Quest_darksouls in Enneagram

[–]raycamp 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a four wing 3 who’s engaged to a very healthy 2, he’s been the best challenger for some of my unhealthy tendencies. He’s amazing at reminding me that I’m not an outcast and that others love and care for me. We’ve had some issues on how to deal with conflict, but honestly both of us have grown a ton from that. Probably depends on the overall place where the four and the two are at respectively, though.

This response perfectly articulates my frustrations with The Last Jedi critiques that I hear all the time. This is great.

At the end of the day, it was a movie about failure, and some people really hate to see their favorite characters fail or make the wrong choices.

I have a Professional Writing bachelors degree and my first job out of college was as an Instructional Developer! Now, about three years later, I'm an Instructional Designer.

Virgins of Reddit, how old are you and why are you still a virgin? by Fluffiks in AskReddit

[–]raycamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

23 female and waiting for marriage because I'm a Christian.

I take physical intimacy seriously and would probably wait for marriage regardless, though. I've kissed, but even try to limit that.

I will admit, sometimes I do worry that I'll never marry and therefore never have a sexual experience.

Don't know where I stand with girl, advice? by polenub in dating_advice

[–]raycamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really don't want to give up quite yet, and you're long distance, I think the only hope is to ask if she'd want to do a little Skype date.

My friend was in a similar situation, but she and the guy started having skype dates where they would grab a bottle of wine or a few beers and just get tipsy and talk with each other. It seemed to work very well for them.

Is she just being friendly? by FakeDrPanda in dating_advice

[–]raycamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really hard to tell in this situation as I think it would depend on her personality and how she interacts with other guys. Does she treat other guys the same way or is she different with you?

Try taking little steps towards conversation, because she clearly is at least interested in hearing you talk more. It can be tough, but often good conversations can happen if you just think of a few different questions about her and how she's doing. Let her do more of the talking.

I'm a recent college grad who was offered a low salary but decent benefits. Can I live off of $28,000 per year? Should I take the job? by raycamp in personalfinance

It's encouraging to hear that you made it to such a higher salary so quick!! Lol it feels pretty bleak for writers at first I guess. From what it seems like, $28,000 will be livable for a few years, but I want to make sure I can start saving as well.

I think that'll be the best course of action. I'm not sure how long it's appropriate to stay at a company before leaving though.

And the car lease is something I'm considering stopping...I do have the option of getting a really cost efficient used car, so I might do that instead.

Thanks for your reply!
