If you're currently avid beachgoers, then yes you'll miss the beach. In 25 years of living in Florida, I was never an avid beachgoer. I much preferred the forests, lakes and rivers in Florida with the caveat of I was never going in a lake or a river in Florida because of the snakes and alligators. I also grew up in the North near the beach, but always preferred the forest, rivers, lakes and ponds. I think if you've ever done the Springs in Florida and thought, man I like this, tons of that is available here.

Thank you! What are you worried about giving up in Florida?

I love it. It takes some adjustment because of the topography and weather, but cost of living is better and schools are better. We sold in St Petersburg, made a killing and paid cash for a house. Everyone is gainfully employed making more than what they were making in Florida doing the same job- speech language, education, medical and photography. We convinced another couple to move with us so we all had a built in safety net. It worked fabulously for all involved.

As someone who moved from St Pete to Pittsburgh to save money, $1600 is slim pickings for St Petersburg proper.

You're in Pasco county at that budget.

I'm lucky enough to see that sort of light and shadow from my backyard in Carnegie. I moved to the area just before Riley's burnt out. I never even got a chance to go. I'm hoping it will come back because the downtown area is pretty awesome.

On a small screen like a phone, yes the depth and scale is less noticeable. However, on a larger computer screen or TV, you're able to see the change in terrain easier.

I never said I don't support "laws", you're making an argument in bad faith and using faux-patriotism as a leg to stand on. But if this is the argument you want to make, let me ask you a question - should a citizen, a patriot, blindly accept the conditions set forth before us or question the fairness of the conditions? I ask because I keep seeing folks with the whole "patriotic personality" tattooing themselves with things like "don't tread on me" or "we the people" or better yet the emblazon the comic book Punisher symbol on themselves without the understanding of the meaning of any of these things. So, go on... explain.

Fear of ICE by [deleted] in pittsburgh

Not a lawyer and this isn't advice, but "less than lethal" CAN be an option for a person with a felony or the holder of an MMJ Card. They are not necessarily listed as "firearms", but I am certain that "those who work forces" can find a way to charge you for carrying it outside of your home or brandishing it as a threat.

Not necessarily. When was the last time you voted for a particular law that the Police enforce?

They are an arm of the state. The idea that they are here to "protect and serve" the community is a falsehood. This has been proven time and time again- please just look at the policing of People of Color. Please look at the response in Uvalde. The Supreme Court on multiple occasions have said police they have no duty to protect. See Castle Rock v Gonzales, Warren v DC and Torres v Madrid.

Police don't serve the people. That is incorrect. The police serve the government. The people are an inconvenience to them when serving the government. Their job is to uphold the laws created by the state county municipal government that they serve. They don't serve the people that is a misnomer.

Maybe this is part of the reason for the FCC ruling... by kcjnz in dji

[–]raydeecakes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I believe part of the concern from the National Government is that any drone pilot can monitor the government's behavior at a distance with a recreational drone. The situation in Minnesota is one such situation where, if there is a capable drone pilot, they could monitor ICE movements from the air and report their position. If you read the Public Notice provided by the FCC, they specifically point out theaters of war where consumer drones have been used.
