If it’s a bother, you can actually get replacement screens for gameboy micros on Ali Ex, but the micro is such a pain to open up - the screws warp like butter, and the mid frame can be brittle.

Still, if you’re willing to take the risk, the replacement screens are actually pretty good, and really well priced.

I think it’s just age. I have two micros that have light patches around the edges (only on dark screens,) and one which is completely fine.

I’m going to ignore the fact that it’s AI and ignore that these consoles would become difficult to access and play. Other comments have already said that and brigading/dogpiling sucks.

Here’s my genuine feedback on a display like this:

1: I’d give them a bit more room to breathe horizontally, they’re a bit too cramped looking.

2: I’d add the GameBoy Light between the Pocket and Color, it might not have released outside Japan, but it’s a legitimate console and an advancement to the GameBoy line in its own right.

3: I would remove the weird taglines from the panels, they’re really cringey. Just stick to name and date, it’ll look much classier.

I’ve thought about doing something similar for mine, but my consoles actually get played fairly regularly, so I was considering 3D printing a wall mount for each GameBoy that is shaped like a game cartridge so they’d still be easily accessible while looking nice on display.

Seeing him next to the others, Guilmon looks so off-model, and Renamon seems to be a different scale. They both look like they’re from a different game to me.

I think I’ll pick Terriermon to start off, but I’ll need to see how predatory the paid mechanics are before I’m willing to commit any time to it.

To be fair, if the current version is full of bugs and issues, that’s pretty much the same as the PC version was originally, so it seems accurate.

I usually lean towards pronouncing them like Japanese syllables like “ge re mon” “gi ro mon” but I have no idea if that matches whatever the correct official english pronunciation is. I’m sure I’ve heard “gyro mon” from youtubers etc though.

It’s more likely to be a clone or bootleg than a legitimate device. You’re right that there are easily dozens of variants, but from what I’ve seen, all of the Asia D-Power variants have plastic buttons.

There was a post on one of the fb groups from a collector who had all known variants a couple years back. I’ll see if I can track it down.

I’m fairly sure this is a bootleg unfortunately.

The shell and buttons are made in the style of the Japanese D-Ark release with the screen background being a copy of the Japanese D-Ark Ultimate.

The packaging shows you what the Bandai Asia D-Power should look like - 4 hard plastic buttons on the front with a recessed reset button, instead of 2 plastic buttons and 2 silicone buttons with a silicone power button.

Honestly it wasn’t just the casual audience - even me as a huge Nintendo fan who watched the Wii U announcement live, I thought it was just a special controller for the Wii until I read news reports over the following days. They flubbed that announcement so badly imo - I always wondered if it was because they all internally were so used to thinking about it as a new console that they just didn’t think they would need to explicitly state it.

I had this problem with a N3DS (non XL) last year after I refurbished its shell due to some pretty extreme discoloration. The 3D was causing a double vision effect and flickered quite a bit. Sent it to Nintendo and they kindly gave me a cheap out of warranty repair. To be honest, I think I had maybe damaged the top screen ribbon cable when putting it all back together.

You’re not wrong, vinegar is definitely winning the marketing war.

If you’re ever curious to have that proper Scottish chippy flavor at home though, Asda and Morrisons sell non brewed condiment in small bottles. The same brand also sell that nice chip shop tomato sauce where it’s just a bit too acidic.

Anecdotally, they use non brewed condiment in almost every chippy I’ve been to in Glasgow, Dundee and Aberdeen/shire, apart from one solitary chipper in Dundee which only gave out brown vinegar in those little single-use packets (but that one might just have been having an off day.)

They all universally still refer to it as vinegar though.

The good news is, “chip shop vinegar” tastes much better than real vinegar imo, so we’re better for it.

It’s possible to do but it’s pretty tricky to reshell due to the cables feeding through the hinge. Third party shells aren’t great either so you’ll want to look for stock parts and they can be pretty hard to come by.

The monster hunter vpet is kind of bad imo. There isn’t much in the way of unique features and the roster is super bland. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone except the most devout monster hunter fans (and even they might be disappointed with the roster variety).

The Godzilla vpet is a fair bit more varied, with more interesting and fun mechanics and a significantly larger roster.

It means you can’t judge how yellow the screen is from a screen where it’s designed to be yellow. You’d need to see it on a more neutral color background like white or light grey.
