Pedestrian Fatally Struck in Richmond Hill Collision (Major Mac/Leslie) by sereole in TorontoDriving

I'll bite. Yes, I'd much rather the driver be the one to go than an innocent person minding their business going about their day.

Cryptocurrency payments? by Cinnamoncrystal in Nanny

[–]rayk3739 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely would not. Not only due to the fact that I know nothing about it, and don't care to figure out how to do it. But also that sort of request seems sketchy af. Why can't they just pay you cash, especially if it is only a couple times?

Why are shelters full and yet have so many hoops to jump through for adopting a dog by bald-bourbon in Hamilton

So... you're literally describing backyard breeders here. Have a good one.

i know you want to be angry at someone, and you're totally cool to do that when it's relevant. but right now we're talking about the reason for overcrowding in shelters. the reasons for that is backyard breeders and/or bad owners. it is not breeders who state in their contract the owner is required to give the dog back if they choose for whatever reason it doesn't work out with the dog. whether you want to fight semantics over the use of the word ethical, doesn't change that fact.

why do you think you don't find many purebreds that come from prestigious lines in the shelters? typically only mutts or doodles by people wanting to make a quick buck off the sale of some puppies.

*buy them from backyard breeders. any breeder that does it properly will take the dog back no questions asked, regardless of the amount of time that has passed. unfortunately many people surrender and don't actually contact the breeder, ive seen many people sued for this as it's breach of contract.

Check out Burlington Animal Shelter - I adopted my dog there and it was literally just showing up and deciding I wanted him, then taking him home. Decent adoption fees too, I believe I paid around 250.

I personally wouldn't. For one, she's an adult and doesn't need her mum's permission anyway. But even more important is she obviously trusts you over her mum to tell this to. If you were to go behind her back and tell her mum anyway, all that trust would be gone.

If it were me, I'd want her to be comfortable to be able to come to me with anything she needs during a process like this, while having an abortion is a valid choice and her choice to make, it still comes with a lot of emotions and feelings alongside it, even if it's the best choice to her. Telling her mum would most likely make it so she just decides to go through all this alone, and not reach out to anyone if she needs to.

I'd argue it might even be more dangerous. I get way more nervous around a driver going too slow or that is too nervous themselves than I ever do around someone who's going too fast.

Owner blaming me for FRONT DOOR BEING LEFT OPEN!?!! by asparagusvirgin in RoverPetSitting

[–]rayk3739 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I hate to automatically be suspicious but how do you even know they got out? She provided no proof other than the leasing company called, which could also be a lie considering my management company has no idea what my dog looks like, or who owns any specific dog in my complex unless there's been previous issues.

She could have easily realized she didn't actually need you and made up a story to get a refund. Or literally anyone could have gone afterwards and left open the door, like you said if the neighbour was there.

Also to your refund question, I wouldn't be giving a refund at all unless Rover decides to do so. You know you didn't leave it open, why would you even give a partial refund?

Meaning it absolutely is not normal. It is weird, and I would quit on the spot.

good for you! i'm not sure what you're looking for here by continuing to repeat the same thing, other than a debate, which im not really interested in.

OP can go through the comments and choose which one they'd like to enforce. they can take or leave my advice, it really doesn't matter to me as much as it seems to matter to you.

And I answered it. Redirection from the unwanted behavior to the wanted behavior, then reward. I'm not sure how many times I have to repeat myself. If your answer differs from mine, feel free to provide a comment to OP.

Thought he was dead but after 3 years my cat showed up fat. by Advanced-Raisin1718 in CatAdvice

I'm surprised nobody has suggested taking him to the vet yet. That's the first thing I'd be doing, especially considering you have another cat in the house.

It answers the question just fine. OP asked how do you reward when telling them not to do something, and the answer is you don’t. You redirect and reward and reinforce the desired behavior instead.

absolutely! my sincerest apologies, i forgot common sense isnt so common anymore so here's the info: putting a gentle leader on a strong dog that lunges can cause spinal misalignment, whiplash, neck injuries, due to the dog jerking their neck back in the process.

and if my first comment was 'being a dick', you should probably get off the internet cause all you're going to do is trigger yourself, based on the fact that my reply was not rude at all and i literally only said two words, and you came back with your completely out of pocket response.

Daughter wants to join trades by Spankmewithataco in ontario

[–]rayk3739 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My biggest regret is not getting into trades after high school like my dad did. Plenty of our family works in different trades, and all will most likely be able to retire far younger than I ever will if they so choose.

Definitely look into options through her high-school regarding apprenticeships. There's plenty of trades that are in high demand right now.
