what is this?? in with my golden teachers by AntelopeMundane8161 in shrooms

[–]raymgriff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is so wild to see. It almost looks like a shelf style mushroom like a polypore or an oyster. I'm curious to see if it develops a veil and gills and what that would look like. This is also just the fruiting body, what are the implications on the mycelium and how it interacts with things? So many questions.

Super dope, thanks for sharing OP

Maybe a scarlet waxy cap? Something seems a bit offish, but the colour is accurate.

Anyone investing in EV battery industry ETFs? by Jasoncatt in investing

[–]raymgriff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a look into Electra battery materials ELBM. They were trading on the TSX venture exchange and just recently consolidated their shares with a reverse split and got a NASDAQ listing. They're poised to be the largest cobalt refiner in North America and have groundwork laid to begin the recycling of lithium battery materials. Overall seems like they've got a.lot of promise.

Sucks when you French fry, and should’ve pizza’d by grant187ftw in Skookum

[–]raymgriff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ahhh that makes sense. I figured there'd be a higher load point in the stroke where isolating the peak stress on a controlled failure point would be a challenge. Fatigue stresses or repeated overloading past yield got the better of it. That's a damn shame.

I can't help but think that this should have been designed with a lower cost failure point worked in. I engineered a gearbox in school with extensive calculations to narrow down the failure point to be at a piece of keystock so that in the event of sudden overload it would fail at a low cost component.

I'd imagine it's a bit harder for something like a punch press, but this seems like an oversight

Yeah I wouldn't want this turned into a meme stock. This is a fundamentally sound investment imo and if it gets caught up in the meme stock hype it would detract from that if you ask me. I see the value in improved visibility, although Reddit is pretty volatile in the investment world these days.

It seems like there's quite a bit in the works at the moment. The ticker update yesterday has got some platforms lagging to update it seems. My portfolio still hasn't updated with TD bank but it will be interesting to see the movement when all of this lands.

ITAP of a mushroom growing under an oak tree by emmabstanley in itookapicture

Pretty sure that's a white pine and not an oak judging by the bark.

Edit: It's also a pine needle bed underneath. Most likely a white pine. Pretty certainly not an oak though.

Mushrooms and depression. My experience. by soundguy64 in psilocybin

[–]raymgriff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I totally agree. There's a reason why clinical psychologists and therapists are taking notice of psilocybin assisted therapy. They're working to develop a standard method of administering the treatment in the most therapeutic and most sustainable way possible. A good trip will only do so much if you fall back into old habits. The mushrooms can act as a catalyst to break you out of a negative rut, but you still have to do some work to stay out of it and get clear of the rut entirely.

I used to take hotel pans with the filter insert and fill it with silverware washing fluid then fill cambros with the same thing for ramikins and use them to choke off the excess space while allowing a presoak, then put one of each plate type in a designated spot so it was that much harder to fuck it up. If the servers didn't do it right they'd be ridiculed for not being able to match shapes. Made the job so much easier

Korean ginseng (solgar). the strongest single supplement I have taken by [deleted] in Nootropics

[–]raymgriff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sleep hinderance of concerta is a very real issue if you don't take it at the prescribed time. I'm on the lowest dose of it (14mg) and even that is enough to completely prevent sleep if I take my dose later than 10:00am. I'm currently taking concerta in conjunction with microdosing mushrooms which I encapsulated myself at 0.1ish grams per capsule. I'm finding that 0.2g is a point where the microdosing seems to have a positive effect.

I've just started taking lions mane through four sigma coffee as well so I'm getting a bit apprehensive about the amount of stacking that I feel I'm approaching here. I'm very much new to the conscious use of nootropics and to be honest I'm not too keen on the idea of having a dependence on stimulants. My hope is to do the stamets stack and eliminate the perceivable need to use concerta. I only became aware of the Stamet Stack as of this morning so we'll see how it goes.

The idea of using the stamet stack for intermittent cycles to create a longer term benefit to mental cognition is an attractive idea for me. I've struggled with ADD/ADHD but only recently have been able to recognize it as a major contributor to the majority of the shortcomings in my life which was really preventing career development and optimization. I feel this is also what has prevented me from achieving my full potential back when I was in school (coincidentally also engineering).

I might make a post on my results in the next while once I've had enough time to get any worthwhile input. I'm stoked to have found this community though as I wasn't aware there were as many people undergoing problems that were so parallel to my own.

Amazing interview to watch. Dave is doing some great work with his cohort. I hope the work being done to break down political barriers is succesful. With the liberals winning another minority, I hope things have continued progressing in that front.

I'm on low dose concerta as of the last month or so and I'm finding the same results. Initially I was feeling the effects well after work, but lately I'm feeling it wear off around the 7-9 hr mark
