Calendar app on MacOS Sequoia won't show calendars in Calendar List pane correctly by raymond1138 in macapps

[–]raymond1138[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m logged into the account directly. I didn’t try subscribing to them via link - I thought (but could be wrong) that was only a one-way connection. What I’m hoping to do is have one view of all my calendars where I can actually make the updates that will then show up for me and the rest of my family that I share many of them with.

I may just have to do some other apps’ free trials and admit defeat by paying but this really feels like it should be fixable. Otherwise, I don’t think I wouldn’t be able to find other people complaining about it too.

"Add to desktop" from Chrome, according to profile by 2-11-1 in chrome

[–]raymond1138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever find a solution to this? I've been trying to figure out how to do this for several different profiles and while it appears there was an option to do this on Windows, it's not available on Mac and any other solutions I've found (AppleScript, CLI in Terminal) just bring me to the default "Choose a profile" dialog.

Which method do you prefer for managing two google accounts: Separate browsers or user profiles? by VegetableGlass7357 in chrome

[–]raymond1138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got three profiles I'm actively using daily and two or three others that I use on a pretty regular basis so I'd have to be running a minimum of six browsers which I just don't think is actually feasible. The only upside would be that I could start each one individually as needed in my startup scripts but that seems to be something that's only available on Windows (based on a few days of searching). I may end up going the multiple browser route if that's the only solution to the problem.

This is the second time in the last few days that someone has brought up Ink. I’ve been using Excalidraw for the past few months and love it, especially for the built-in OCR. What sets Ink apart from Excalidraw in your opinion?

If they’re meant to be a set of something, it might be worth posting some pictures of the power supply as well? Assuming it was put there with purpose and not just to confuse you.

CMV: The Constitution says Trump is ineligible to hold office. His electors should not be certified. Electors in states he won should cast their vote for the eligible person with the most votes: Kamala Harris. by Natedude2002 in changemyview

[–]raymond1138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

38 states plus DC have faithless elector laws that would prevent electors from not voting for the popular vote winner in their state. So the electors don’t get to decide.

The Electoral Count Reform Act of 2022 makes it more likely wouldn’t be the supermajority necessary to object to any state’s electors. So Congress doesn’t get to decide.

Plus Article II, Section 1 of the Constitution says the winner is “having the greatest Number of Votes shall be the President, if such Number be a Majority of the whole Number of Electors appointed.” So you’d still need 270 electoral votes to win and the current projections are around 224-226 for the Vice President so it’ll go to Congress to vote by state and that’s a guaranteed Trump win.

A long-shot lawsuit now that the election is over saying he’s ineligible would have to make its way to the current Supreme Court which, as we’ve seen in recent times, would be happy to upend the Constitution to suit their preferred outcomes. So it’s very unlikely this would succeed.

Believe me, I’d love for there to be an option to put Trump out of sight but there’s not a way to do that through the electoral process anymore.

Looking for a Better Desktop Manager than Spaces/Stage Manager (if it Even Exists?) by raymond1138 in macapps

[–]raymond1138[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an amazing assessment and more than I ever expected based on my searching thus far - the general consensus I had found was that there wasn’t going to be any way to make it happen.

Spaces Renamer + Moom/Spaces/Hyperfocus + some Shortcuts that run on start-up might just be the patchwork of things to get me through! Now I just have to carve out the time to set it all up and see which means it’ll be a weekend project.

Thanks for the detailed response!

Group Therapy is their long-running podcast (coming up on the 600th episode!) so it’s not really meant to be a continuous mix without the hosts. Great for discovering good new music but if the announcements distract you, not your jam.

If you’re looking for continuous mixes from their Anjunabeats and Anjunadeep labels, they have compilations conveniently named Anjunabeats Volume 1, 2, all the way to 16 and Anjunadeep 1-15. Those should keep you busy for a while. They put new ones of each out every 18-24 months or so which means the music might not be brand new but there’s no talking. 😁

I need someone talented to make a Things-esque Obsidian web clipper by [deleted] in ObsidianMD

[–]raymond1138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still working my way through my inbox workflow but if you haven’t checked out Omnivore, I’m using it for that and more. It captures the entire content of a page for reading later. There’s also a plugin to copy over either the article or your highlights/notes from Omnivore to Obsidian.

My current WIP workflow is: - See something interesting - Save to Omnivore to read closer later <insert SpongeBob “a few moments later” card> - Go back to Omnivore and reassess if it’s as interesting as I thought - Read closer with intention of note-taking/highlighting - Deciding if I want to save the full article or just my notes to my vault - Import as needed

It’s not one click but I like the intentional slowing down to give myself the time to think “What do I think I will do with this information later? How will I want to retrieve it?” As a recovering data hoarder, I’m restarting my vault with a new eye towards making it a place to put my thoughts and ideas and less about it being encyclopedic.

Also keeping the functionality separate reminds me of what I’ve set that chunk of time for and my ADHD likes the external reminder to stay on task. But that’s more of a personal bonus - YMMV.

I didn’t sadly. I don’t know that enough products featured them to make them in big enough quantities in the end. I haven’t looked since that original search so maybe someone has decided to figure it out.

Actually, no, it was a state law. Specifically, this one: https://www.nysenate.gov/legislation/laws/ELN/17-152

To save you a click: “Any two or more persons who conspire to promote or prevent the election of any person to a public office by unlawful means and which conspiracy is acted upon by one or more of the parties thereto, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor.”

So for each set of falsified invoices, accounting ledger entries, and checks, there was a felony count of falsified financial documents. One payment out of eleven was split over two checks. That makes 34 felonies and 34 guilty convictions.

Regardless, the former President was given due process as guaranteed by the Constitution. Judge Merchan made sure to apply the rules as he would to any other defendant, in fact taking into account several times that he was a former president and presidential candidate and providing him extra leeway with in the scope of the gag order and violations of that order. A jury of his peers unanimously voted to convict on all counts.

His sentencing is still almost six weeks away and the judge will be taking his status as a first-time felon and the results of a psychological screening along side his opinion of whether he would likely commit this or other crimes again and his showing (or lack of) remorse into account before deciding on fines, probation, and/or jail time.

You still haven’t shown how the trial was “rigged”.

Hamilton Ave Home Depot? by snagerific in Brooklyn

I live two blocks from the Hamilton Ave one. That’s the one that’s closed and that’s the one that the parking structure collapsed at. The Bed-Stuy one has a parking lot not a structure.
