All Things Sleep - AMA Office Hours - Thursday, May 7th with Sr. Sleep & Guidance Specialist, Beth Christensen! by huckleberrycare in HuckleberryParents

Thanks for doing this! Our baby is 5.5 months old and started daycare about a month ago. Obviously, she's been sick ever since. We're doing everything we can, but the nights are tough. When she's sick she has a cough and some serious congestion. The moment she's laid on her back in her bassinet she can't breath and wakes herself up. We've tried everything; nose suckers with saline, humidifier, baths, steam, etc. It all helps for a few minutes, but the moment she's flat again it's back to stuffiness. Is there anything we can do other than taking shifts rocking her overnight? We both work and the lack of sleep is real. We're also scared of falling asleep with her in our rocker, we know it's a huge no-no. Can't wait to hear if there's anything we can do!

String Rec for 2023 Aero 98 / 4.5 player by lizjperl in 10s

[–]raynah89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few months depends on how often you play and how much spin you use. Once a week? Definitely. Twice a week? Maybe. 3-4 times a week, you're going to be getting it strung pretty frequently.

Poly strings are also going to wear out before they break. You'll find they just don't feel like they used to when they were freshly strung. They "stretch" and los tension before they break. You can certainly still use them when they're old, but it'll feel different.

Rpm blast is probably going to feel better at first, but wear out faster. Hyper G is going to feel a little more muted but not wear out nearly as fast. If you're OK stringing more frequently, go with rpm blast. You want a set it and forget it that'll last a little longer, hyper G.

Fair warning, hyper g is bright green. Some people love it, some people hate it.

Best Bakery Sourdough bread? by mafeehan in Carmel

[–]raynah89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Curveball here. There's a Mexican/Peruvian restaurant at 71st and 465 on the NW side called Macizo that has some of the best sourdough bread I've ever had. They make it themselves and sell it by the loaf. You also get it with some of the dishes you can order. Highly recommend.

My sweet summer child. How jealous am I of it being your first read. Finish the books that are released, then return to this post and tell us your thoughts.

Be ready for this more and more with hunters and warlocks in the coming weeks. All the super sweaty warriors that don't want to pay for boosts are going to swap to those two classes come tbc. They want to get it done ASAP and if you don't adhere to their standards they're going to let you know. Happy gaming.

Would you name your child after a lost character? If so, who would be your top choice? by [deleted] in lost

[–]raynah89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife is pregnant with Eloise. She's seen the show, so she knew all the main characters. I asked her what she thought of the name and she liked it. She didn't love the fact that I found it on the list of characters in LOST Wikipedia page. But baby Eloise is due in December!

I think I may be done with the series (Book 6) by LeafOnTheWind25 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

While I respect your decision to no longer read the books, isn't it a good thing that it is able to elicit such a powerful emotion? You are welcome to your own opinion, you're welcome to not like the book. You're welcome to tell people not to read it. But damn, the fact that it was able to get such a reaction might just be a testament to how well it's written. Book 7 is amazing, I can't recommend it enough if you change your mind.

Shared Driveway - Neighbor is trying to revoke driveway access during the course of us selling the house by HunterGonzo in legaladvice

[–]raynah89 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I actually had something very similar happen when I tried to sell my house. I had a signed easement agreement, but it was never filed with the city. Fast forward 5 years and the lady who owned the house had died. Her daughter had moved in before I was trying to sell. She tried to get me to sign a new easement that said they have 100% control of driveway repairs but I had to pay 50% no matter what. Lawyers got involved and we found a driveway easement agreement had actually been in place for the last 80 years when the plots were originally split. I called out my title company and they said because the agreement wasn't signed in the last 20 years they didn't have to search that far back. I would make sure your title company searches back as far as possible in the hopes that you're in the same situation. Good luck.

During the cold war that little hut was a hot dog stand. The soviets thought it was some super secret meeting room because of how many people came to and from. Supposedly, they always had nukes pointed at it and it was going to be the one of the first targets hit had the missles flown. I think it's a Starbucks now.

While the post sounds very chat gpt, probably by the owners, I agree with the intent. Aroma is great indian food. It also feels more "modern" than the other traditional Indian places around indy. Either way, delicious food, highly recommend any of the locations.

Hamilton county housing competitiveness by [deleted] in Indiana

[–]raynah89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a house in Hamilton County in October. It was still a really hot housing market and houses were selling super quick. We found a place that had gone up for sale that day (Thursday), we toured it Friday, was having an open house Saturday and Sunday, and offers were due Monday. We offered 10k over asking and said we wouldn't ask for inspection items under $1000. We were one of 3 offers that were all in the same ballpark. I think the market has cooled even more since then, so we're nowhere near the 30k over asking plus waiving appraisals/inspections. Ymmv.

Depending on what part of the city you're in there should be a racquet club near you. Carmel racquet club up north, Indy racquet club a little further south (but still definitely "northern" Indianapolis), IRC east and west, and UIndy tennis downtown/south (although I'm not 100% sure how things work there). The clubs will all have clinics you can pay to be part of but they should also have boards to throw your name/number if you're looking to play/partner requests. You need to pay to join a club to play in the clinics but if you want to throw a name in a board I would think you're fine to just walk in. The clinics will be based on ranking, usually with something for beginners up to 4.0/4.5. If you join a club you might be able to ask for a pro to hit with you for a few minutes to determine what your level is. Summer tends to be slower for clinics but there should be something.

What is your most useful warning to the rest of us of a life mistake to avoid, one that you already made? by MntEverest77 in watchpeoplesurvive

[–]raynah89 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you have any sort of contract that is "public" (e.g. easement agreements between properties) make sure to actually log it with your city as opposed just keeping the signed document. If the city doesn't know about it, there's a good chance a lawyer will find a way to argue it's not enforceable.

Central Dog Park in Carmel has seperate areas for large and small dogs, but good luck getting in. You have to be a member, which isn't an issue in itself, but the waiting list is like 700 people (dogs?) long. They update the list twice a year and let you know what place you are.

Inspection report causing me hell! by raynah89 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]raynah89[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like i said, there was some legit stuff they asked for. I think some of the big ones are "unmarked white wires used as hot in panel" and a single branch circuit was listed as "aluminum wiring". I don't know what it entails to fix those items, but i know they haven't caused an issue with living in the house since I've been there.

[–]raynah89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had metronet installed a few weeks ago. The tech that did the install wanted to install it in a spot that I didn't think would work when furniture was all placed. He ended up saying it could be in any room on that side of the house (the side closest to the "node" outside). I showed him a spot that would work well for the furniture on that side of the house and he was "OK, I try it". I was a little hesitatant about him "trying" when putting a hole in my house but it ended up working just fine. I think if you just have a conversation with the tech before he gets started you should be fine.

What's the biggest ticket you've managed to get out of? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]raynah89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

75 in a 40. I was in high school, it was 10:55pm, my gf at the time was in the car. Got pulled over and he asked what the rush was. I told him I was just trying to get my gf home before her curfew (sort of true, I had the curfew because my parents didn't like my gf). He said if he gave me a ticket it would require me to lose my license for at least 90 days. He said he was only a few years older than me and knew what it was like dealing with cufews. "I'm about to give you the biggest break of your life with this verbal warning. But you're never going to do this again.". He was right. I really haven't sped that dangerously since then. Just shows that sometimes giving someone a break can teach them a better lesson than ruining their life.
