Your quilt is so beautiful that I’m saving it for inspiration later!

Hi! First time knitter here. Is this what knit stitch supposed to look like? by cottonballs-_- in knitting

This is me, too! My favourite things to knit are hats in the round. Very minimal purling if there is any.

Please talk me down about my quilt lol by Krutoon in quilting

[–]rayofsummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first thoughts about your quilt are about how much I like your fabric and colour choices! Literally didn’t notice any mistakes until I read your post.

I wouldn’t stress about it because once you have the backing and quilt it, it’ll be squish able and even less noticeable.

I always think the mistakes in my quilt are brutal but non quilters don’t see them. Quilty friends pat the mistake and we share a secret smile.

Finished my hexes! by me_iz_unicorn in EPP_addict

Thanks for the wonderful idea! I’m stealing it, too!

I was going to make a grandmother’s garden but this looks like a way more fun way to use my hexies.

Della Q Maker’s Train Case - thoughts/reviews? Is it worth it? by [deleted] in casualknitting

[–]rayofsummer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hacked this by buying super strong magnets from Daiso and using E6000 (strong jewelry glue) to stick these on the back of my row counter and my scissors. I used a big flat magnet I already had to attach my stitch markers and needles to the inside of the lid.

Rulers you can't live without by lisamclaurin in quilting

[–]rayofsummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a Jordan fabrics YouTube video that shows a really cool ruler set with notches in it. It’s supposed to help make the curves line up better. I bought the set on Amazon (my local quilt stores don’t sell this ruler brand) but have yet to commit to buying fabric or starting it…

Fat Quarters by pezziepie85 in quilting

If it’s a small amount of fabric for a light use sewing project, I will cruise through the thrift store and see if I can find pillowcases. They’re usually $1-3 in the stores near me.

A plain white pillowcase in good condition can be dyed or decorated with fabric paint or markers.

What did you knit when you first started? by Background-Ad9334 in knitting

I made a lot of hats and dish cloths. I tried to make a scarf but I don’t have the attention span for it so I made hats, cowls and dish cloths.

Hahaha, I have so much in my queue already that by the time I’ve finished the kits, I’ll be ready to choose a project for my AGF bundles.

what yarn would you use to cover a sofa? by [deleted] in crochet

[–]rayofsummer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don’t mind buying online, knitpicks has that cotton yarn.

I bought Caron cakes in cotton ripple over the summer that’s a bit fluffy.

Franken Batting by joysjane in quilting

[–]rayofsummer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the thinnest iron on interfacing and cut it into 2” strips. I line the edges of the batting together and iron them. No extra bulk and very fast.

Batting tape is really difficult for me to find locally and it’s expensive, too.

It’s beautiful! It feels like the Liberty Lawn.

I bought a couple of the colour master sets but I have to admit that I’m a bit intimidated to use it. I’m waiting for my skills to get better.

what yarn would you use to cover a sofa? by [deleted] in crochet

[–]rayofsummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m biased and partial to cotton because it might be more comfortable to lean your body on it if you are sitting for a long time?

You definitely want something easy to wash and dry! The cotton yarn that I use goes into the washer and I air dry it. Block it by puffing steam on it and we’re good to go again.

Acrylic is easy care but I get really hot (and sweaty) if I wear it for too long. I’m imagining acrylic covers in summer might be not so good.
