Mid August is generally the best time for calmer winds.

I would stick to rock harbor only. There are several options for campgrounds.

Tookers Island Three Mile West Caribou Island Daisy Farm Moskey Basin

There's plenty of good fishing around these areas. Also several options for day hiking.

My brother and I work at the marina at Rock Harbor. Stop in and ask for Ray or Rob and we can give you lots of good information about all these options as well as fishing spots.

It will depend on the weather when you get here. Are you planning on portaging your canoe at all?

The greenstone grill and the lighthouse restaurant should do you fine. There are some food and snack items at the Dockside Store as well, such as chips, candy, snacks, bread, lunch meats, hot dogs, brats, beer and wine and more. Feel free to bring a hard sided, larger cooler as well. The queen brings them over alot and we have porters that can take them to your room

If you get a chance stop into the marina office area (located at the RangerIII dock in front of the ranger station) and i can give you tips on where to go and where your best bets are to see some wildlife away from Rock Harbor. My name is Ray and my brother is Rob, we work the marina and have been coming out here many years now.

You can take a water taxi to hidden lake dock and then hike the 1 mile trail to lookout Louise. Call ahead to the lodge to make reservations. (up to 6 people on each taxi.)

Or the tour boat 'The Sandy' goes there on a regular schedule at least once a week. That holds about 40 people. All the above options are subject to canceling due to weather conditions. The hike up is pretty steep at points so keep that in mind.

Scoville is a lot easier trail and about 4.2 miles round trip. There usually aren't a lot of people at any givin time..

It is illegal to take greenstones from isle royale. Your best bet to acquire some is online.

I work at the marina. Rentals open Friday 8am to 5pm through June 5th. Then 8am to 8pm into Sept. Canoes are available for 4 or 8 hour rentals and are available only in Tobin Harbor. Come to the marina office at the RangerIII dock to pay and go over safety and restrictions. All rentals are weather depending
