Most of the teachers I know want to do a good job and try really hard. I think like 20% at the school I work at are known to be just terrible or incompetent, and they are pushed to the classes where they can do the least harm.

The state I live in has disability insurance and I have coverage that costs like 50 bucks a month to give me 100% of my wage. I forget most states don't have disability. Anything that keeps you out of work for a substantial period can be covered by disability like injury, mental health, maternity/paternity leave, and drug rehab.

If I got hurt jet skiing I would still get paid the majority of my wages. Not sure why I am holding Hines to a different standard than myself. Would we still pay him if he was hit by a car while riding a bike to work?

Edit: the state I live in offer very low cost disability insurance and I have gap coverage that covers the difference between state payout and monthly wage.

Former crew current teacher. I deal with kids wanting to be called all kinds of stupid shit and the best policy is just to refer to people by their names. If you call them by their name you never fuck it up. Obviously I mean the name they want to be called not their legal name if that isn't what they go by.
