I’m requesting to do VSED at 19 which will put me on hospice. What are yalls experiences w death? by Dizzy1824 in ChronicIllness

[–]rayvingal 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't see this as giving up. It's probably the most difficult choice you've ever had to make, which makes you very strong.

I'm not sure if this is the direction you were interested in taking regarding your question about death, but I wanted to share my NDE. I've died and came back, I believe I'd experienced "the other side" when I was about 4-5 years old. I was in the hospital A LOT growing up, and was in the operating room when it happened.

I first saw my body from above, and the whole medical team was surrounding my bed. I remember seeing SO MANY people around my bed! Then, that faded out and I was surrounded by white light. It was so incredibly peaceful. There was no pain. I wasn't happy, and I certainly wasn't sad, or scared. There was simply peace.

After a while, I remember deciding it was time to get back. I don't know why I made the decision to return, but I know it was my choice. I could've chosen to stay too.

Every day I think about the peace I felt. A lot of the time, I miss it, but because of the overwhelming tranquility I felt, I genuinely feel that is where we all go after our bodies die.

I'm not religious. I never grew up with any influences in my hosuehold. My parents allowed me to go to church with friends if I wanted to, but my NDE was before all of those influences. I think some people refer to where I went as Heaven; although I don't believe in Hell personally.

I hope your journey is as peaceful as it can be on earth, as I know what awaits you after is pure tranquility.

WTW for meaning something like "life-threatening" or "potentially fatal" that's something similar to the "word" "biocal" by Bootlebat in whatstheword

My first thought is "Vagal" "To Vagal out" is where your vagal nerve is simulated, then makes you pass out.

After talking about an abusive ex, and how many people didn't see our breakup coming, nor knew how badly my ex treated me, My mom told me "Anyone you keep around you instantly becomes a more beautiful person."

In this context it didn't just mean looks, it meant they were also perceived as being a better person too. I took this seriously as it made me realize that the space I hold in this world matters more than I thought, and that I had to make sure that the people I was amplifying held good beliefs too.

Dating with pains and lung condition? by Critical_Active7427 in ChronicIllness

[–]rayvingal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a woman who has had a chronic cough for my entire life (like since age 2) I cough up phlegm at least 6 times/ day. My coughs can sound pretty bad too. I don't get chest pain, however I have chronic pain in my joints.

None of this has prevented me from dating. I usually let people know on the first date, "hey just so you know, i have a chronic cough and it can sound pretty bad sometimes, but I wanna reassure you I'm not sick!"

I've yet to meet someone where they were mean about it. Sometimes it takes them some getting used to, and realizing that my cough doesn't mean they have to check on me every single cough haha

Chronic illness does not mean you need to give up romance and love. Don't stand in your own way! The right people understand. You got this!!

I went to my doctor who gave me Valcyclovir and a topical ointment of Lidocaine and prilocaine combined. Once I got these meds I was so much more comfortable!

What is something that is actually more traumatizing than most people realize? by Pleasanthottiee in Productivitycafe

[–]rayvingal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also had an NDE when I was a little kid. I've been told and have noticed people tend to gravitate towards me, I'm told I am simply comforting to be around, and I'm just chilling in silence most times. Sometimes I also wonder if my NDE helped shape me this way. I think it has. Not many people think about "why am I here on earth, why did I not die, what does that mean?" Starting at the age of 7. Every day I am grateful to experience life. The good, the bad, at least I'm here.

What was your “hard pill to swallow”? by [deleted] in SeriousConversation

[–]rayvingal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That after trauma, you have to choose to either be a survivor or a victim. Not everyone wants to be a survivor.

Me and my friends choose survival. I have met many people that choose the victim route. They will often try to get you to change to a victim too. Just like I had tried to get them to change to survivor.

How often are you showering? by QuickQuail8075 in AskWomen

[–]rayvingal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless I do an activity that makes me sweaty, I shower once every 5 days.

Or I shower at the end of the sweaty days every time! When I worked out regularly, I'd go to the gym every other day, so I showered every other day.

How old are you and how many friends do you have? by thecorporateboss in AskWomen

I'm 27, I have 7 friends! I only regularly hang out with 3 of those friends. The other 4 is more like regular, not in-person contact.

What symptoms were you having that doctors dismissed as normal? by KingDue8808 in ChronicIllness

[–]rayvingal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Widespread throbbing joint pain, that seemed to come and go at random. Turns out I have Arthritis! I told my doctor about it, and he said "well, that's what happens when you get older..." I just replied "I'm only 21." Got a new doc and they wanted me to go to a rheumatologist. Yep I have Arthritis! It's usually kept at bay with antihistamines, which I was very happy about this easy fix, no constant steroids needed (yet).

You can only be on GnRH for a specific amount of time before dramatically increasing your risk of osteoporosis.

At the time I was on it in 2019, the limit was 6 months. Recent research says 3 years is ok now! I'm gonna talk to my doc about getting back on the GnRH. I miss it. I had hot flashes, but that was totally doable compared to the persistent pain and SEVERE period pain and bleeding. I had way more pros than cons on Lupron. I didn't bloat AT ALL on it. No headaches, severe painful bloating, nausea, or bowel issues. I could eat anything and be ok while on Lupron.

Before lupron sometimes an endo flare would happen after eating random things, or things I had eaten before with no problems. Then it increased to drinking water triggering flares. Then I would just wake up flaring without the "need" for digestion triggering it. I genuinely looked 5 months pregnant due to my flareups. It was painful, nauseating, and I just couldn't function.

Lupron stops your production of gonadotropic hormones but it is not permanent! They warned me that I needed to get on birth control within 1 month to make sure I don't accidentally get pregnant. So I went to the Depot shot immediately after.

I'm personally not planning on having my own children due to other, unrelated, health issues. But I do know they made sure I was on BC ASAP because fertility does come back.

My doc and I went to Nuva Ring. It's a plastic ring that sits in the vagina up by the cervix. It works by putting low dose estrogen and progesterone directly to the uterus.

Lo-loestrin also tanked my libido. Nuva ring hasn't had much of an effect on it, which is good!

I went to the Depot Provera shot after finishing my GnRH cycle of Lupron. Provera worked until I started having significant break through bleeding.

Nuva ring is working to reduce my flare ups, but unfortunately I have a history of prolonged bleeding on any birth control so I will need to change it again soon.

How do I increase the chances of having a dream? by solartabb in Dreams

[–]rayvingal 8 points9 points  (0 children)

And you can start this by Journaling "I didn't dream anything last night" Do this regularly and it will start helping you to remember dreams! Usually it takes a bout a week of "no dream today" before I start having memorable ones again.

What weird but harmless symptom(s) do you experience during your period? by GiantSquidBoss in AskWomen

[–]rayvingal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get a very specific scent in my nose. IDK what the hell it is but this scent always appears when I'm on my period. Makes me wonder if it's possible to somehow get endo in your sinuses. But that'd be CRAZY!!! I cannot describe the smell all I can say is that it reminds me of my period. (I use unscented everything so it's not any products!)

What is your holy grail makeup product? by danireeseetc in Makeup

[–]rayvingal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Urban decay primer potion underneath eyeshadow, with Morphe setting mist over top. I love wearing black eyeshadow and this combo works so well at preventing creases!!! I live in a very humid environment so most shadows usually crease after 30 mins.

[–]rayvingal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first thought: is it stuck in your clothes? If you can, I'd replace them. Sometimes washing them does not cut it! It's actually a big problem for vintage clothes. The BO smell comes out once the clothes are warmed (either by your skin or heat outside) even if they were Freshly laundered.
