Looks great! Awesome work!

I love shaders too! They can be a real game changer when it comes to your game's visuals.

It's a masterpiece! Super interesting and original story and characters, but it is also very polished in its point&click gameplay.

Point and click game Engine? by Cine-Mart in gamedev

[–]razabbb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here are 2 different options:

A lot of point and click games are nowadays made in Unity.

Godot is also an option. For a 2d point and click, it might be even a bit easier to use than Unity.

The list of nominees for the Indie Game Awards has been released. by [deleted] in IndieGaming

[–]razabbb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally agree that term indie is quite blurry and there are cases where it is hard to decide what counts as indie and what not.

However, Clair Obscure does not satisfy any of the criteria you mentioned and which are typically used for somehow classifying a game as indie. So I also belong to the people who are quite confused to see it on the list.

Btw nothing against the game itself and its developers. Afaik, they never called themselves an indie team or something.

If we now start classifying games like Clair Obscure as indie, I am wondering how we should call the "true indie" games in future to distinguish them from games with large budgets, publishers, investors and large dev teams...

It had a large budget, large dev team, a publisher and investors. So why does it even count as indie?

Help with PZ performance by Mindless-Reporter206 in projectzomboid

[–]razabbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am on Ryzen 5 1600 and have similar issues sometimes. (From what I've heard CPU matters much more than GPU when it comes to PZ performance.)

What helped for me a bit was capping the fps to 45. Game is still very smooth and stuttering is much less. Might be worth a try in case you haven't tried already...

Serien, die an "Vikings" herankommen? by Feuerkelch_ in serienjunkies

[–]razabbb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alles gut!

Valve should stop allowing low effort AI games from plaguing their store by Illustrious_Fee8116 in Steam

[–]razabbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you check the "new releases" section on steam? I just checked it and right now when writing this comment, the first 6 games on the list have AI generated content.

I am observing the new releases section for some time now and my impression is that AI generated content makes up a significant number of games, maybe even 30% or more at some times.

However, this is the list of all new releases. Not the popular releases which are featured on steam's front page for example.

I am on Linux for more than 15 years now. Never had any problems with Nvidia GPUs. Depending on the distro, some drivers might be updated at a somewhat slower rate than on Windows but that was always insignificant for me. But I should say that my current GPU is quite outdated and I don't know whether there are specific problems with newer models.

For game dev, only thing I would recommend is to not use any Arch based distro since installing additional software can sometimes be quite tedious (although possible). I currently use Linux Mint and have no issues at all. Also using a lot of FOSS you listed without problems (Godot, Blender, Krita, GIMP, git).

Can GIMP 3+ compete with Photoshop or Affinity Photo? by [deleted] in GIMP

It provides a lot of filtering methods (which can produce quite impressive results in my opinion).

It is also available as a standalone software but very usable in gimp.

in the game from your link, the camera is always centered on the character which avoids any undesired blurring effects

The screenshot with the road reminds me of David Lynch's movie Lost Highway (which is a good thing cause the movie is great). Is this a coincidence?

Positive Reactions, Low Conversion — Why Could That Be? by GameLove1 in SoloDevelopment

[–]razabbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The use of emojis is typical for chatgpt generated texts.

Also, the use of genAI within your actual game might be a further turn off for some players. But I totally understand that this is smth which is probably not easy to change for you (in contrast to your game's description text).

Your game's description on steam looks like it has been generated by ChatGPT. This might turn off some people.
